Jack tries not to laugh and covers his mouth

Yet, Connor seems serious!

He whispers to Jack, “Someday when I’m Esquire I can save the day too.”

Jack sobers "You'd make a good esquire"

“I’ll tilt all the windmills like Donkey Hooty and Sancho Panda.”

"is that like Kung Fu Panda?" Jack says

He looks thoughtful. “I don’t think so. It’s too hard to read, so I look at the back and the cover and make up the insides.”

"There's a movie about it. Tove likes it."

“Oh, how did they teach the donkey to ride a horse?”

"And Sancho's a really good squire. There's singing..."

"Well, pooka ride horses."

"Some pooka ARE horses" Jack says

“Pooka ARE horses.”

He grins to Jack. “And horses are pooka.”

"It's a good movie, but sad."

"But good!"

“Maybe we can watch it some time?” Big eyes at Dagmar.

“I’ll make pupcorn....”

"Oh." Jack says " I guess I could watch it... but sad movies make me. .well, sad"

"Sometimes it's good to feel sad. It's about this guy who wants to be a real knight, even though the world doesn't think much of knights and honor anymore."

"But he does it anyways, because that's his dream and it matters."

“That sounds familiar.” He nods solemnly.

"It... like.. 'To dream the impossible dream - To fight the unbeatable foe - To bear with unbearable sorrow - to run where the brave dare not go..." She sings. Not well, nowhere near what any of the satyrs or Tove can...

Jack actually smiles at the song.

She closes her eyes. Maybe it's easier that way?

His ears prick up, listening in the unjudging way that animals have. And his tail thumps softly.

She trails off, and blushes. "It's like... like, I dunno. I like it."

Jack taps his hoof a bit, then nods "It's GOOD. It's got.. good lessons in it. It's like...he's using the song to say who he is and what he wants and sharing himself with us, and it's very brave"

“Your Star follows you.” He smiles.

"Star follows sometimes."

"Sometimes, she wants to lead."

“She follows her nose like Toucan Sam. But she even sometimes lets me pet her nose if I have apples.”

“And sometimes she is flitty-abouty and won’t come for an apple until I give one to Stormy, and then she STEALS it. Even though he’s BIGGER. Right out of his teeth!”

"Oh, she likes you."

A laugh.

"More people should make I want and I am songs. It should be a thing" Jack muses

"Maybe you could write one?"

“King Louie has one. Ooo, oooh, ooo, I wanna be like youuu-ooo-ooo...”

"I am Jack Flap, and I do give a crap. I want to have a mom and pap, and maybe later take a nap" To the tune of 'i"m a lumberjack' "If they're not my first , I'm okay, I would love them anyway"

He fidgets. “We should let Brogie sleep.”

"How about I get you each a glass of water and you head up to bed?"

"Oh.." Jack says quieting as Connor fidges, then he nods to Dagmar "That would be nice"

“Without any supper?” A hangdog look.

“No one here fed me even a crumb!”
