Sam, for all she may have a crush, still primarily loves critters and sports. Horse-riding, in truth, is a combination of both.

She misses the drama, out on the trail. With practice, she is relying more on this-life's skill, rather than memories belonging to other Dagmars.

Stormwake responds to her growing confidence AND competence with pleasure

He's a partner, a teammate. The horse also hears all about school - including some things she won't confess to the grown ups, like her panic over the makeup, or fear of hurting Sylvi's feelings...

"Why?" Gerd says playing devil's advocate.

"I mean, he had his hot dates already at the farm"

"Well, because... because we take care of him. He doesn't have hands, he can't do it."

"So, like, we gotta do it right."

"Huh. So that's what he meant." A brow knit

"Hunh?"

"I try to figure out what his 'cryptic' hints mean sometime... when I was younger I asked him if Chieftain Brekke would be the greatest warrior always... or if somoene here might be better.. for Rivervale, I meant."

"Oh, shit, nobody is better than the Chief..."

A smile "And no one will be... kinda. He said.. judging by his visions? Brekke Shacklebreaker would be the greatest warrior Rivervale would ever have... 'on two legs'"

She laughs. "Oh, don't tell Stormwake! He'll get SUCH a big head!"

"I don't think he was talking about Stormwake" She says

Then "Nevermind. Anyway, you're good with horses. They seem to like you"

"I like them." Happy sigh.

"You can be free on a horse, right? Feel like you're flying, and you can go anywhere, or do anything. Oh! Did you know I get to help Chief at Pennons? She's taking Stormwake for the joust!"

"He's gonna be awesome..' A pause "Oh Poor Baron Kealan. Oh well... they'll have healers"

"Right? Good thing."

She gives the steed a slap on his withers. "Alright, you're done!"

Tail in her face and he starts off

"Hey! Jerk!" ANd more laughter.

A grin from Gerd. She's a bit less Gothy today

A chuckle a Brekke approaches. "He does it with affection, I think."

Flush. Stand up straight. "Hello, Chief."

She nods, just back from patrol. "He looks good, Dame." Indicating Stormwake.

"Hi, Chieftain," Gerd is less formal in stance despite the title

"Thanks. I try to do right by him."

"Hello, Gerd. All is well?"

"Pretty good actually, I.. well, my therapy sessions about my eating disorder are having break throughs."
