Adam looks at her a little helplessly then says "Oh. Ok. Uh. So. So.... Ok, I'll act less impatient. Thanks."

"Try BEING Less impatient if you can..." A smile "But yeah, that's not easy right?" A look "As for what my mom risks. Her people's trust. A lot of kithain get scared at the notion of a mortal who can see them. My mom is actually advocating for you with them by sharing so much knowledge. She's also got a Count over her. If he feels she's violating the Escheat, friend or not... she can lose this lodge."

A pause. "Or, he might say 'Sure, someone like this guy could help us out and he's seems cool, let him in'?"

SHe pauses thinks it over "I think you will do well in the Dreaming because you have a VERY Good imagination."

"The... Dreaming? Like... that place you can get to but I have to have help?"

"In a way you're in the dreaming... it's got layers, like Cake" A smile

He nods, learning.

"There are deeper wilder levels that would drive you insane to go into I'm afraid...but before you get too huffy, it could kill one of us too so.. there you go, 'fairness' at last" eyebrow raise "Olgar knows the most of it."

"Olgar?"

"Sylvi's dad... he is what we know as a Rover. He's not a pretty man, and he's not always a nice man, but if he tells you to come with him if you want to live? It's not a movie quote, he's deadly serious AND he's right." She informs him.

"Uh. Got it."

"Now, if you were to go to the upper nobles ... they would not say 'this guy could help us out, let him in'. He would treat you like..." She pauses and snaps her fingers, "he would be forced to treat you like a law agency treats illegal immigrants. Now that varies... The Count is not an evil man so I doubt you'd face the worst of it...but you might surely find yourself cut off from your vision and forgetting all this as you were 'returned to your own country'. What my mother is trying to do is help you get citizenship"

Adam blinks. "Oh. Why didn't anyone say so?"

"Because you don't seem to grasp metaphors well, like when I made one and you aassumed what I meant was you wanted to jump my mom."

"Of course, mom might be less inclined to help you now. " A frown, "I imagine being told she's cruel and mean because she doesn't move fast enough for your liking does not endear one"

"Hey, -that- was not cool, Siv." Scowling. "Making me think.... whatever." He shrugs, turning away... just the slightest bit pink. "Anyway, I didn't tell her that."

"Fine. Maybe i don't Tell Metaphors well but I'm glad the illegal immigrant one worked" She says "And are you sure you didn't? Kind of?"

"She asked, I answered, she didn't believe me, I answered again, and she said that was cruelty and I said, well maybe mean." Defensively.

"Trust me when I say my mom knows when you're telling the truth... or at least she knows when you might purposefully lie" She says "And you think calling it mean was really that much better? I mean, if someone came up and said you were acting like a dick... and you were like 'really?' and then they said 'not really..more like an asshole..." She shrugs "WOuld you be like 'oh that's all better then'?"

"Hey, -I- didn't -say- cruel! -I- said mean!" He protests. "-She- said it, not me! -YOU- said it, not me!....." He pauses, looking puzzled. "Holy Shit, Siv.... did you set me up?"

"Fair point. Mom did ask if you thought it was cruelty, then you said mean after. You're right. It's more like she asked you 'so you think I'm acting like a dick' and then you said 'more like an asshole'" Then a shrug "That more like it?"

His expression is sliding into 'hurt'. "Naw, Siv, -you- asked me if I thought I'd been cruel to you, then she asked me about her. You said it first. So were you setting me up, or were you both setting me up?"

"C. Neither." She says "I did not like Dagmar generalizing on how everyone else was giving you a hard time when I was part of everyone else. That's why I asked you, because if I had, I would owe you anapology"

Adam scowls, thinking. "Don't think S... Dagmar..... said 'cruel'. She was talking about right and fair."

Siv rubs her horns, "Do you remember the part where I Said 'On the matter of Fairness' in that same sentence? You're focusing on word play while I'm trying to get to truths. Flat point is- HOWEVER it was worded, I found myself being hit by a broad brush that I did not feel applied to me, and if it were so I needed to apologize to you. "

"Word play? -You're- the one that brought out a freakin' -dictionary-!" Adam sets his glass down with a thump. "Ok. You had the best intentions, and you've raked my ass now. I should get home and shower before work."

"Oh for the love of... Raked your ass? "

"Yeah, ok, I get it. Cool. Less impatient. No sweat." He tosses the towel over his shoulder. "I'll bring this back, kinda sweaty. Thanks, Siv. See ya at school."

"I'm trying to help you, Adam. Maybe I'm not wording it well... and I DO apologize if I hurt your feelings. I know exactly how you feel about wanting to show what you can do. How you want to be a part of something bigger. How you wnat ot do more. That's why I'm trying to teach you how to get there. Whether YOU meant it or not, you insulted my mother when she was trying to help you too. If you were a kithian? If she didn't challenge you to a duel I might. "

He nods. "Well, let me figure out fighting and if you wanna go, I'll meet you. Thanks for the lemonade." He heads for the door.

"Adam. This is not a good way to end this" SHe rubs at her horns, "And I'd really like to continue talking..so maybe we could Listen to each other. "

He nods. "Cool. Text me sometime."

"I meant now"

"I gotta work."

"Great. I'll drive you there. "

"Nah, I'll walk back to Sam's, get my car. Gotta shower first. See ya."

"Wow, everything really is black and white with you... if it's against you, it's evil, if it's for you, you're okay with it...even if against you is for the good of others and ultimately yourself. Yeah... you go Adam. You do you. Just stop being surprised that treating everyone who doesn't back you one hundred percent like the enemy backfires."

And he's gone.

"He only talks about the parts he thinks he can win on...he's not looking for the truth, he's looking for a win..." A scowl "I'm starting to wonder why Dagmar thinks he's been treated unfairly. He sure doesn't extend fairness to others." Siv tells her cat and pets it.

Mackerel isn't sure what the fuss is about, but she likes the pets.

"Of course, if I were so mature myself I'd probably not be venting to a cat" A sigh

Frank opens the door to the kitchen and taps his boots off before coming in to unlace them.

"Heyyy dad." A sigh

"Hello Siv." Unlacing. "How're you?"

"Not great. I've about given up on communication. I suck at it it seems"
