Honestly, in the hat and glasses he looks like a knock-off teen spy.

Sylvi goes over and looks through that box, searching for glamour or dross again.

She collects the bag and looks over at the others.

It appears to be out.

Well, of dross

and glamour

She looks up, sees that Sam is ready, then beams her cheerleader smile at the shopkeep. "Okay, thanks, Mr. Tully!" And she heads for the door.

Adam shuffles out after Sam.

She bites on her lip. "Sorry, man."

Mr. Tully watches them go. "Nice kids."

The vendor in the main store looks over at them, sees they bought the pen and paper stuff, and sighs

"S'ok." He says, not upset at her. "Just don't want to get in trouble."

Sylvi stops outside the store and waits for the other two. "What do you think, Sam?"

"Well, this is another one..." She flips through the lupine book. "I wonder if we could TEXT Chief for permission to talk..."

"I want to take a good look at the cheer thing, too. Yeah...let me check with my mom. She checks her phone more than, um, Aunt Brekke does."

Texting texting texting....

"That should work, I'd think."

"Can we get off the sidewalk please??"

"Sam?" In case anyone thought he was talking to anyone else.

Sylvi gives Adam an odd look.

"Sure? You look way too worried. Are you okay?"

"I called out of work and Greely's right over there!" He has his back to the sports store.

"Oh! Oh, geez...sorry, we screwed up there."

Sylvi looks at her phone again and sighs with relief. "We got the go-ahead. Adam, you can officially talk to me. Mom asked her, and she said yes. See?" She shows him her phone screen for evidence.

"OH"

"So...you drove here? Let's get in your car and go somewhere that's not here."

She points at SYlvi, agreeing.

He doesn't really -want- to risk looking at the phone. "Car. Right." He heads over. Used, but nice!

"You take shotgun, Sam." Sylvi aims for the back passenger side.

"Nice wheels." She offers.

"Thanks. Where to?"

"The Mall? The lake?"

A chimerical bat flies by "Dun dun dunnah" It says...

"Barn?"

Adam tracks the bat's movement.

and it strikes a pose to look like the symbol, then flies higher

"That works." Sylvi nods to Sam. If she noticed the chimera, she doesn't seem to be particularly bothered by it.

He ducks his head under the sun visor, squinting up.

"Hey! Adam! Don't let that stuff distract you while you're driving, okay?"

"Okay, so you're gonna want to head down seventh..." Directions to Chez Ironhawk.

The chimera grow a bit more common... not less, as they head near the lodge area, even if it's not right next to it.

Sylvi texts her dad that she's on her way to Dagmar's house with 'the new guy.'

He does, indeed drive slow and carefully. Almost rigid.

TXT: Mmmph

"It'll be okay. You DO get used to it..."

As he parks, just as he parks, a snow white monkey lands on his side of the windshield and says "Banana? "

"Berries are good" Snow adds!

then another text from her father

"Hey, Snow. No bananas, sorry."

TXT: Sorry, RM. But we need you here. Your hand got out! Your mother wants it out of the kitchen
