"Hey." Sylvi approaches the two of them, books in arms. "I might be just about on the edge of being able to understand the quadratic equation...sometime this century. What's up?"

"Sadie Hawkins it seems" Nadeen answers Sylvi

"Ohhh...that dance. Yeah, I saw the flyers. I didn't know that was even a thing, but mom explained it to me. Weird."

"What will you do if Colton can't make it?" Nadeen asks

Yes, she's apparently not adressing the Simon talk further, having already agreed to be nice.

A shrug. "Not go, I guess. Or go stag."

"Go alone? Everybody would... Sylvi, I don't think that's smart."

"It could be social death" Nadeen says

"Oh, come on. Seriously? Everybody knows I'm dating Colton and if he can't make it...." She shrugs. "Hopefully he can."

"People suck and are mean, though."

"I tend to agree with our resident cynic on that"

Sylvi frowns. "Well, okay, geniuses...what do you think I should do?"

She shrugs. "Don't go if he can't go? Maybe ask Zane?"

Eyes wide? "Ohhhh, no....no no no no no. That would be a Bad Idea."

"The Zane part, I mean. The staying home makes more sense, even if it sucks."

"Zane can dance"

"Yeahhhhh...and Zane's also eager to do more than dance with just about anybody who will say Yes."

Nadeen raises a brow "Interesting. Why didnt he peek us with the telescope then if he is so weak willed?"

Dag frowns. "He... Sylvi, did he do something?"

"No! Oh, wow...no. Okay, he didn't peek on us because he isn't an asshole. But...come on...." She looks between the two of them for a sympathetic ear.

Then a frown. "You two are trying to railroad me."

"No!"

"No, no, just noticed that Zane must be very lonely at times. We all treat him like he's going to hump our leg like a dog"

The sidhe ponders "He flirts too strongly, but... has he ever really acted like he was going to villain in a bodice ripper novel?"

"I am not! I just don't want anybody giving you shit for going to the dance solo. I thought... I thought Zane would be okay..." She frowns. "Sorry."

"Then maybe one of you should ask him."

She shakes her head. "We don't get along. And I don't want to go."

"Yes, Zane rubs her the wrongway"

"I screwed things up with him. Lost my temper."

"Look..." Sylvi lowers her voice so others can't here at all. "...it's not Zane's fault, but...well, you know about the Gift, right? I'm just not sure I want to be...a gift recipient."

"Maybe....maybe Eden?"

"Ah, well, they say it doesn't make you do anything you don't want to do, so who really is to blame for what they do when it's playing?" Nadeen seems playful about it.

Dagmar turns greyish and frowns.

"Eden? She likes Simon" Nadeen says

"Oh, you think he'll say yes if she asks?"

The frown deepens into a scowl.

"Sylv Davidson? " A teacher calls "Just who I was looking for. It's about your report. you have a moment?"

"I...uh...sure...." Sylvi leaves the two to the conversation.

while Sylvi heads of, Nadeen looks confused at Dagmar "Did Eden do something wrong?"

"No. She didn't..."

"Then, why the scowl? " Confusion

"Just... if she goes with Symon..." A frown and a shrug.

"he might say no, so maybe she won't even screw up courage. wait, do you think she's not good enough for him?"
