Her amber eyes dance along the scene, ravenously sucking in the details. "Looks like something from Lothlorien..."

"Little slice of it maybe" he says with his own eyes looking very pleased at the view, "This spot is easy to overlook, and even some of the locals who have been here for years don't know about it. Maybe it's selfish of me, but that makes it even more appealing."

"Nice to have something that's all yours." She reaches back, touching the halberd - and yes, she even has it here. She's ha it constantly since the last bug attack.

"Well, I doubt it's all Ours, but it's not everyone's, and that's something" He pulls out a pole, "Here, let me show you how this works... make sure your hook is tied ..." And he begins a no nonsense break down.

Instructing her in how to bait the hook, and so on.

Dag is quiet, but attentive - that little furrow between her brows as she tries to replicate the knots just-so... she does make a face at the worm.

"I know, I know, see, this is the part I figure Symon would have liked, though that might be profiling- sorry" He shows her again "But think of it as like a cheeseburger if you wanted to catch vali, gross or not, you use bait you know your prey likes"

"Yeah, but cheeseburgers don't wriggle..."

"Fair point," He says "But that just makes the fish buy it all the more. There are 'fake bait', rubber worm and the like, but I think live works best"

"So next is casting?" She eyeballs the stream, then looks over at Jaymes - waiting to see him do it before attempting it herself.

"Yup, all in the elbow and wrist. Just don't hook yourself. " And he demonstrates, slow and easy

Careful observation, and she mimics with a passable first cast.

"Nice, it'll get even better with practice"

He casts again, giving advice on things, "Different Fish like different areas, but as a generalization..." He explains where to try to find a 'good fishing spot' which seems as much art as science

Dagmar listens, sponge-like.

there's etiquette among fishermen too, like respecting someone's claim to a spot, and at most asking them if you may join at that spot and respecting their answer. the returning of the smaller fish for the good of the stock, and sometimes to respect laws about same. He is telling these, when, his line starts to move

"Hey, hey hey!" She spots it, and points!

"good eye" And he says "Now, you have to pull slow and steady .." He says "If you yank it can break the line... and lose it but you also have to... oh it's a fighter"

"Well, get it!"

"Well, since you say so," a bit of a smile, and.. well, it takes a bit, it almost slips once, but their first fish turns out to be a Rainbow Trout "Huh, not bad ..average size but... ok okay hree we go." He unhooks it and then hands it to her "Put it in that container"

She takes the fish, and dumps it in the bucket of water.

It flopped and tried to get away but she manages and in it goes.

"How'd it feel to hold it?" He asks

"Slippery..." She's ignoring her line, watching the fish swim around the container. "It's pretty."

"Try not to get too attached," Wry

Time passes, but at one of the times while she'd distracted, her line jerks

"Hey! Shit!" She reacts, instinctively yanking back.

too hard, too soon, too fast... and SNAP... the line breaks.

"See, you're speaking Fisherman already"

That earns a laugh, and defuses the cursing.

A smile, "It's okay. No one catches them all. Wouldn't be right if they did." he says, "Now, put a new hook and bait on"

When next the conversation drops... The faint sound of a raspy voice... singing? If it wasn’t such a quiet environment, lulled by the trickling of the stream, it might not be heard at all. “The rocks and pool.... are nice and cool.... so juicy sweet....”

A twist of his head

She nods, carefully working on resetting her line.

“My only wish.... to catch a fish... so juicy sweet...”. A creepy croon, as he separates from the shadows. Pale bare feet, overly long toes curling through the dead leaves and new grass, and a pair of tall wading boots tucked under an arm. A floppy hat guards his face from the sun, and a stark white streak of goop over his nose, blessedly almost unnoticeable against pale skin.

"I think we have company, glad you could make it, Symon"

She looks up. "Hey, Sy!"

He peers out from under the hat and flicks a wave, setting the boots aside and shaking out a tired arm. “Catch any good ones yet?”

"Jaymes got one. I almost had one."

"Here, let's show you how you to set up your hook and bait..."

“Sure...” moving over, and letting his hand trail into the bait bucket, fingers searching through for a nice, juicy one... “ever go looking for night crawlers? They come out when it’s dark and the dew is heavy...”

"Did some before dawn," he gestures to one patch, "Great bait material."

“I like that part.” Amused, and glances to Dagmar, holding up the chosen worm. “You want to show me how?”

She makes a face, but nods. "Easy enough..." Despite the grimace, she demonstrated by baiting her own hook.

Jaymes watches quietly

He watches, intent as the worm squirms. “Hah, good. Not squeamish. Long thin, slimy ones, short fat juicy ones...”

"And then you cast..." Up to her feet, and a flick of her wrist to send the hook out into the stream.

"Hopefully ones that taste good to fish, nice cast there, Dagmar. "
