There's a painting, a fantastic one, of a full sized Nabuni blows a kiss in a top too big for her that drives down to her calves, behind her an open door as if she's wishing someone good bye for the day

Zane says "Adam?" But doesn't chase

Adam's phone buzzes.

He takes a moniute to get control, and then answers it. "Helllo?"

Piper's voice is on the other line. "Adam, hi. Sorry that I missed your text the other day. I've been... things have been crazy in R-V. Thank you for tracking down my braindead cuz though."

A deep exhale. "Piper." wow.... she has never heard him sound that... deadened. "YEah. He's here with me. EarthRunes."

"Geez, sorry. Did I bother you? Bad time?"

Another pause. "Piper, no good way to say this. I'm sorry. Nab's dead."

A pause, and a small laugh. "Don't be silly. She's a chimera. She can't be."

"She was destroyed by a willworker. I was there. I couldn't save her. She's gone."

"....." Silence.

"Oh. Oh, I'm so sorry. I know... it doesn't help, but I'm so sorry."

"I know. And, I'm sorry too. For your sake."

"I know you were friends."

Quiet. "Yeah. I'm sorry, Adam. ...Are you okay?"

A long pause. "No."

"You.. you gotta let your friends help. Throw a big wake and remember her, that's how the goats do it."

Another long pause. "Right. Take care of yourself, Piper."

"You too Adam." Soft, before hanging up.

Adam touches the red handset icon and glances back at the gallery to Zane and Alanza.

"Hi" Alanza says "Sorry we were.. well, waiting for you and admiring.. did you like the art?"

A pause. "I wasn't expecting it. Could you guys excuse me for a bit?"

"Again?" Zane says "You just got back. " A look to Alanza "Let's go, this is upsetting him"

She nods and they move to leave, only WITH Adam

"I didn't really have a destination in mind." he says quietly.

"Dude, the paintings and statue annd shit, they.. are you upset?" Zane asks

Adam closes his eyes a moment. "Just not easy to see, Dude."

"No. I guess not. But if you didn't like them, well, that's different from memories"

"True."

"DID you like them? " Alanza asks "I mean, did you think they did her justice?"
shadylady 5:56pm
"I didn't look close enough to judge."

"Later you should try" Alanza puts a hand on his shoulder
