Ivanka bows "I shall bring it." and she slips out

"Well. That was.... unexpected. But, the Lady Captain often is."

"Siv is Siv."

"She is." he agrees.

"We.... were speaking of Veronica and her kith, yes?

"Miss Veronica rather deserves a bit of respite, don't you think?"

"Yes, of course. Forgive me." he drops the topic "How is school going?"

"...ah." A little frown.

"Not well? I know it's winter break for most places....."

"We return the 19th."

"So do we." with a shy smile.

"I have selected distant classes."

"I try to. But there are some I cannot. And Coradel cannot take an equestrian degree at a distance; some classes require attendance in person. I try to make sure those coincide with some of my own mandatory attendance."

Zara shrugs a little and frowns.

"What's wrong?" gently.

"School is fine."

"Well.... good."

He seems a little lost.

He sips and watches Zara, trying to read her mood.

Quiet. Tea sipping.

August takes a breath and exhales softly, settling in to companionable silence.

He clears his throat softly. "Bronte gave Coradel some reading assignments. Austen."

"Oh?"

"Bronte, I fear, can be biased..."

"Apparently she perceived some gaps in Coradel's understanding of literature." with amusement.

"And she can be most insistent, aye."

And the talk turn to private talks of Bronte, and books Coradel REALLY should read

And the dust bunnies dance and frolic and some talk of a colony
