"Briar!" A whisper, but forceful. A stage whisper!

Fortunately both are going through the same stage of life, so Briar hears her easily!

"I didn't do it!" She responds in a hiss, quite by habit.

Amity creeps down to join the other childling.

"They're Van Helsings. Get it?"

Briar blinks at her, then has to stifle a guffaw.

"Yer alright." She whispers.

She beams back, and then offers Briar the book.

She takes it and scratches her head as she examines the cover, but then shoves it into a pocket for future analysis. "Let's see what's in the boiler room. That's how these movies always work."

"Right. So we're doing the opposite and going together?"

"Stick with me, we have Glass and maybe backup."

A soft warble-coo. Probably agreement? Bird noises aren't statements, so they're easier.

As they make their way down the basement / boiler room, they hear a scream, a boy's scream. No one above seems to care. The two come upon the scene of a pale boy in a cage, he doesn't look very old, about their age in fact. He is cringing and rubbing at his shoulder. There's a burly woman with an eye patch and one of those tactical uniforms, and a crucifix on her neckk ,but it's the cattleprod charged with electricity that she's using on the boy through the cage bars. She says "Not good enough, where are the other vampires, blank body? We may be selling you for study, but that's only to finance our holy crusade. You're not a boy, you're a monster, and it is no sin to kill a devil in human form." The woman is a bit cold, not a DIE hard autumn person, but definitely a bit more banal than average. The boy, the pale boy, is cuffed and oddly? He has less banality than she does. / He answers "Look lady, I'm crazy because of my blood, what's YOUR excuse?"

(Oh, If you guys have lore or Greymayre, you may roll an Int + Lore/Graymayre roll or best guess. The book helps.)

Briar moves in front of pidge as they come to the scene, not blocking her view but just... looming in the way a bit.

Does the woman have (an obvious, visible) gun?

Her stubby little wings mantle, feathers puffed out. It's a threat display! Big scary bird! (Not small afraid bird!)

The Children of Lilith are dreams gone wrong, prodigals true kithain should be wary of! That's what both have heard, many are immortal and old and very very cold! Yet the boy vampire, who they can only assume is Trey who left the pizza box note (Can vampires EAT Pizza? How did that even work?) is not as cold as stories say. This does not mean he is safe as he bares his fangs and sarcasm, "Yes, lady, I know where ALL the vampires are because we're all happy... and I..." His eyes drift and glaze, "Oh sweet sweet lady, a hunger as great as my own looms. Pray to your carpenter, it won't matter. You'll ride the dark horse's delights to your doom I think"

Am's eyes go BIG as she takes in the real, actual fangs!

The woman snorts, "Of all the vampires, I get a deficient one. You're not well in the head are you?" SHe raises the electric cattle prod again.

Briar huffs, and puffs, and as the boy gives them away, she dives in, going for the woman's arm that holds the cattle prod. CHOMP.

Amity squawks.

Drawing on the dreaams of childlings who prove a match for trained soldiers, and monsters that should not be overlooekd because they are shorter, Briar bites down on the woman's elbow... and damn near separates the arm into two parts! Whether she succeeds or not, the woman screams! And her arm is rendered too wounded to be of use!

The boy says "You got my message! Thank you! Thank you, ... are you going to do anything with her blood? Just... asking for a fiend."

Amity hears alarm up stairs... and figures coming this way!

She lets out an ear-splitting whistle!

Briar thinks about it for a moment, then shoves the woman over towards the cage, close enough for the kid to grab her. "Eat up."

And she examines the lock on the cage.

Before dodging out-of-sight for Bird.

A bloody grin at the whistle. "That's tellin' em!"

There's a CHOMP, an amateur compared to the meatier bite of a Redcap, but still, fierce, as the boy takes the woman thrown against his cage and bites on her other arm, right after saying "My bologna has a first name, it's H-U-N-T-E-R, my bologna has a second.." ANd then the drinking begins .. the woman screams. Oh, the vampire COULD Make it feel good, but he really doesn't want to. / Amity having whistled, dodges out of sight for bird, and soon is flapping, a man comes down and sees this situation, "We got two kids helping the ..oh god, there's blood on that gir's mouth she must be another Blankbody!" He points at Briar and pulls the trigger...

Flap-Swoop-Peck-SCREECH! The pigeon harries the soldiers coming down the stairs, with noise and chaos as an obstacle.

Briar's arms had flown up in front of her face, hopefully to deflect the blow.

Gum is funny stuff. The term 'gum up the works' did not come to be because it just sounded cute. Trying to fire a semi auto ground...when one bullet is lodged ahead by gum is even to laymen not used to weapons, a bad idea! It's a day of 'farewell to arms' as Amity's earlier action saves Briar from being shot and instead blows the arm off the guy who pulled the trigger!

"Bitchin!" Briar yells.

And Amity is already pecking at the next one!

"Ankles, Glass!" Briar yells.

Trey finishes killing his prey and says "Could you kindly free me? I am fed and that's as safe as I get, honest!"

Glass is not an attack dog, but she obeys, and one soldier ends up getting knocked down the steps by a bloodhound tripping with a nip!

Briar eyes the kid, then spits in her hand and shoves it through the bars, taking a risk. "Promise you ain't touching me or mine. Bird and dog."

Oh, this is bad bad bad. But Briar's there, and these guys have guns - so, pecking it is!

Trey nods "Glow friend, you have my solemn word, I will feast on all the world before I deign to devour any of you three."

And he shakes!

A firm shake, then she starts gnawing at the lock, spending glamour to make the tough stuff palatable.

Sure she COULD check the woman's body for a key, but she didn't think of that.

Briar does realize that the promise was not "I won't kill you, but 'I will kill you last'"... but to a redcap, that's fair enough.

And that means she can kill him first! CHOMP and the lock is free!
