And thus, she can open the van from the inside! "Ta-da!"

The van is now open, accessible, and Briar didn't even have to eat a door handle!

"Opposable thumbs for the win!" She scoots back, and then points to direct Briar's attention to the cage.

Briar stomps in and glowers at that cage. She rubs at her jaw thoughtfully, as if remembering an old wound. "Let's see who this is."

Then she pauses and checks the glove box. Sometimes there is candy inside!

Amity scoops up the key. Good to have on hand.

The cage, well, it's empty, but the glove box? Oh that's interesting, a sharp piece of wood. Perhaps the Italian mobsters planend to go camping. Hey, some dried blood on the tip? ODD. There is also a map, old school, with a route outlined. Leading to this very place. A note on it says 'Hold here for two weeks and you'll be well paid for the subject'.

Briar licks the stake. Hm. Too bad she doesn't have that connoisseur merit, but yeah, it's blood alright.

"What do you think, birdo? Call in backup, or go in guns blazing?"

She flexes her arms. "THESE guns." And gnashes her teeth.

"....How about spies?"

"I mean, you're the spy in the pie. Er, I mean, sky."

She grins. "Not nearly as tasty as a blackbird, though, if you wanted pie."

"And you need so many blackbirds."

"You and me, pudge."

She nods, then pauses. "Can you do a big whistle, like to call a taxi? Don't do it now, just tell me."

"NOPE!" She grins, all teeth.

"Good. If anyone sees you, do that, and Glass'n'Me will come with the teeth."

This settled, she leaves the van and starts circling the house. Any higher up windows, open for the spring breeze? Or with an AC unit wedged in?

She offers Briar the key - bird is MUCH smaller than girl, but, well. Thumbs.

Yes... there is a second floor window and while closed it does not appear locked. AND yes, there is an AC unit in one that whirs right now.

Briar grins. "Good catch. You go high, I'll go low."

Briar heads for the ... hmm, back door, to try the key.

The key... works! The back door clicks ...and Briar hears voices as it cracks open. "Why don't we just put the damned thing down?" / "Because we're getting paid for it." /"I thought we were doing god's work." /"We still are. They will learn more from this.. thing."

She creeps in and looks around, staying low.

(And I assume Our pooka is once more in fight checking out the second floor?)

She is!

The window with the AC is actually pretty easy to get by, though it tugs at Amity's wings. Easier than that window earlier... and she gets inside. She sees what looks to be a guy in combat larp gear laid out, still dressed in some tactical gear, asleep. There's a BIG gun near him against the wall. He's snoozing hard. ANd there is a door out into the main hall partly open so she can fly by, or paint this guy's toenails or whatever.

For Briar, she creeps in, stays low, and makes like a sluagh... only like, cool insteadd of creepy (Dex plus Stealth)

She does not LIKE the big gun or the scary guy... but...

And there's soon enough a little girl, and some chewing gum, and a sticky wad of it shoved into the barrel.

WIth the Barrel gummmed up, Pidge is free to go on out... or stay here should she wish, but the hallway awaits. / Briar is having a harder time of it, hearing "Did you hear something?" "Was it from the basement?" "No.." "Then it's okay. That devil spawn is ours. Just don't look him in the eyes or if you visit him." "Shit , is it my turn?" / Briar gets closer and sees three nervous men in tactical looking gear, like those ICE agent assholes but without the logo talking , two are playing cards, one is roaming around in circles in what must be the dining room area beyond the kitchen she's snuck into. They don't see her yet. But that was close.

Amity re-birds to explore the upstairs. She feels safer small.

She looks around for stairs, more rooms, or a phone, the old timey kind with a cord.

The upstairs has a room with another sleeping adult, this one a woman, she took her gear off and is snoozing in the room opposite the other guy, dressed in shorts and a Texas Longhorns T shirt, she snoozes lighter. There's another gun here, better and more safely positioned, but it too can be gummed if Amity wants. Or even just have feather shoved up the barel. Besides her, there is another bedroom but it is not being used as such, no. IT is being used as a study, and there is laid out on a table a book that says 'Blankbodies for Dummies' , the book appears to be custom made, someone's not mass publishing. If she looks through it it talks about Italian Mobsters! ways to kill vampires!

Briar- There is an old timey phone with a cord in the kitchen in fact, though if it is still in service she doesn't know. Besides the dining area, there's a pantry, a bathroom and... she suspects a living room but she'll have to go past the assholes quietly to be sure. They mentioned a basment, and you'd think that would be hooked up to the kitchen.

She disables the other gun. They give her the heebie-jeebies.

Can she get to the phone without being seen or heard?

Briar- Yup. Phone grabbed if she wants!

Amity- Two guns down, the rotation will wake to find they have barrel trouble!

She take a moment to decipher the ancient ways of this thing before dialing 9-1-1 and tucking the phone into a cupboard , just the cord sticking out, but the sound of the call muffled by the door. She leaves it off the hook, hoping this means that someone will be sent to check things out as a precaution.

Then, she looks for stairs.

911 what is the nature of your emergency MIGHT be heard by someone RIGHT next to itk, but it's muffled so... on she goes.

Amity takes the book!

Amity-the-girl flips through the book before tucking it in her overalls.

Finding stairs, Briar stops... the stairs go both ways... up and down.

ANd as Briar is on the ground floor ,THAT means the basement.

Snooping done, she creeps to the stairs on foot.

Down, down to goblin town. You go, my lass - Ho ho, my lass!

It is at this moment Amity sees a frightening figure below her on the stairwell! A nightmare come to life! A monster of beastial hunger... oh wait, it's Briar! Yeah, Briar is going further down, and Amity is a floor and a few steps over her.
