"No wonder I felt a little down in the mouth" Gerd says

"We got them."

"And they ain't gonna touch you." Scowl. "I ain't lettin' them."

"Ditto"

Gerd adds

He blinks at them. "I know!" Patting each of their hands. Utterly and completely confident. "You'd never let any bad guys get me."

"That's truth. your knight smushes bad guys!"

"Me? I'll drop them in the lake"

"SPLOOSH!"

Gerd beams

A heavy tread approaching at not-quite-a-run, and then Brekke ducks into the healing tent, scowling as her eyes adjust to the low light and searching....

"Chief!"

"Dagmar, where are they?"

Gerd is wearing a nightshift sort of outfit, the healersp ut her in it "Chieftain ah.. hi" A blush

Connor fades back, leaning against Gerd. Ears and tail down.

"Vali and Tiff took the bad guys...."

"Gerd and Connor were heroes!"

Finally, Brekke's eyes adjust so she spots the childlings. They appear much less bloody than she had anticipated. A very still moment, then a deep breath, and her shoulders relax marginally.

"You are safe. Good."

"About the Hearth's booth, very sorry" gerd says

Connor quivers, near tears again. "'m sorry..."

"Yes, Gerd, I am not sure I understand what happened there. I was called to the Count's side." A serious look to both her and Connor, then to Dagmar. "Tell me."

"Connor..."

Brekke looks to the boy. "Dagmar says you are a hero. You do not need to be sorry for that."

Gerd "hey, Connor it's ... okay. The Chief would never hurt us. She's on our side"

"So, from what I understand - Gerd stumbled upon the Ranters plotting, and they got the upper hand. Gagged her, tied her up. Connor went looking for his sister, and found her with them. He freed Gerd, and the.. next bit sounds a bit chaotic, but they managed to disrupt the bomb the bad guys had planted so the least amount of folks were hurt."

He whispers up at Gerd. "I know. She's just... so mad..."

May or may not be overheard, but was intended just for Gerd.

Her eyes get VERY angry when she hears of Gerd being bound and gagged.

A deep breath. "That...explains much."

Gerd leans down and picks Connor up for a hug "Course she's mad.. she's mad not AT US... but because we were threatened and hurt and ain danger. She's mad at the bad guys. "

"The assholes were trying to kill the Count, and were going to kill Kerri right along with him." Glower.

He buries his face in Gerd's side. If he can't SEE that angry look, maybe it will go away.

A grim nod to Dagmar. "I understand their redcap is captured. I do not know about the others."

"Vali got em, and Tiffany"

Gerd assures

Then she notes Gerd holding Connor...and she goes down to one knee. "Come here," she says to both of them.

Gerd mouths from behind Connor so the Chief might read her lips 'He's very sensitive to anger right now' But she moves closer takes Connor with her

"Vali has a cooler head than me."

She rests one hand on Gerd's shoulder, and another on Connor's back. "I understand you two were very brave and resourceful. You, Connor, saved Gerd...and the two of you saved many others, including the Count and the Hearth." A pause, her tone suggesting she expects them to confirm this understanding.

He peeks at her with one wary eye, and nods a little. A sniff. "re th thnes md?" He asks, into Gerd's side.

A blink, and a look to Gerd for translation.

Gerd nods

Then translates, for the nod twas to the chief "He's worried the thanes are angry. We may have dropped a chimerical thunderstorm on them" Not quite true, but real close

Her brow furrows. "Why?"

"Well, one shot me in the leg. " She says "I was streaking towards the Count's path after all. They wouold have shot anyone flying overhead towards their liege's area"

A sniff. "They hurt Gerd."

"Mm." A nod. "If there are challenges about this, I will settle it. You did what was right." Then more directly to Connor, she repeats, "You did what was right."

His chin wibbles a little. "...not mad at me?"

Her large hand still on his back, she shakes her head solemnly. "I am not mad at you. I am proud that you saved Gerd and helped save others."
