Brekke looks over to Siv and nods. She climbs back up into the saddle, sizes up her opponent, puts on her helm, and takes up the lance.

And her Herald s ays "From Lands far and cold, rides like the last winter storm, Lady DOOOOOOOOOMMMMWINNND representing Teaneck!"

Siv comes out "Rivervale bleeds, some are saying! But check her form, check her flesh! She has bleed before! How has she bled? She has bleed for Count, for County, for PEOPLE! Siv puts a stirring oratory display, but all the deeper if one is of Rivervale or Bergan. If one knows these are not just flashy boasts

It's probably a good thing that the gathered throng cannot see Brekke's bemused look at this introduction behind her helm.

Stormwake stomps

Doomwind's own steed stomp's in return. A long haired cuss, for a horse

But she raises her silver fist in salute to the people.

A fast charge forward, trying to close the distance and perhaps get within the opponent's reach a fraction faster than expected.

Doomwind meets her, and they clash. Brekke is PUNISHED for her attempt by getting a blow in her solar plexus she can feel in her armor! Her own blow catches Doomwind's shoulder

An audible "OOOF!" from Rivervale's Chieftain, and she reels...but she keeps her seat.

Doomwind might be muttering something herself about that

her shoulder hurting no doubt

Gwen whispers "Briar, who do you think will win?"

Eyes wide. “It would be cooler without Armor. One pass is all you gets!”

Siv gives her mom a new lance "Holy shit. Big, fast strong, AND accurate? Is that allowed?"

"She is...challenging. Yes." That is all she says before she squares Stormwake up for another pass.

“I like the intimidation factor on the Doom Wind. And DOOMWIND is just a cool title. But rumor has it that the Rivervale lady always wins. I ran out of money so I’m done betting.”

"ALWAYS?" Gwen looks alarmed

Calanthe leans forward, grinning. The odds were good so she hopes to make a tidy profit on this bet.
Briar shrugs. “That’s what I heard anyways.”

Symon ponders, sure, drugging the large sidhe woman's drink would be wrong, but it WOULD help RV.

Gwen says "Well, there goes that" A sigh

“Ah fuck, you DIDN’T.”

But nope, no time. She's not even refreshing with water.

Lances i nhand, the second flag lowers

and once more they go at each other. Stormwake and the uberfluff give equine bellows of challenge

Symon hisses in disappointment. He has a good seat with Lily from underneath the bleachers - earplugs keep down the sound, and he shows Lily how a light brush on the ankles can make even the most stolid looking fellow squeak at times.

Brekke spurs Stormwake. The steed may be growing tired, but he is as fierce and determined as his rider. Another charge...and this time Brekke does something she hasn't done on any other pass. She makes the slightest feint with her lance before the final strike.

Lily is really seeing why jousts are fun now

This time, it is Brekke who gets the solar plexus, but the Doomwind does not get knocked free, and as for her own lance? It shatters against Brekke's opposing shoulder. A trade then

That feint worked! But not as well as she hoped

"I did" Gwen groans

A pause as they pass each other on the way back. "You hit well. I am impressed."

She nods and gives a salute of respect, but says nothing

And lances are restored.

“So much for snacks for after the joust.” She gripes.

"You can eat ANYTHING" She points out

“CAN, but food tastes GOOD.” She grins.

And Brekke is ready again.
