"But I don't want to hurt anyone with it. Hitting someone can hurt them." He looks concerned, and thinks for a bit. "Maybe a stick? Like Little John? That can trip people, but they won't probably get hurt. And it doesn't have any sharp bites to cut things. ...and it's kinda like what you have? Just without the knife-end?"

Dagmar nods.

"Like Little John, or Gabrielle."

"I want you to be able to protect yourself, and maybe protect others. I know you don't want to hurt people, and I won't ask that of you."

"It sounds like a good side-kick weapon..."

Nadeen looks dubious but nods

"A sidekick with a side-stick."

Snerk-grin.

"Do you get a peanut flag? I could carry it for you. On my stick! Then no one even knows I have a weapon."

"Clever" Nadeen says

A pause, and he corrects. "A pendant. A.. a pheasant."

"A triangle flag."

A huff.

"Pennant."

"I don't have arms yet. I will talk to the chief, though."

Nadeen says "I know a herald if you need one made"

Connor looks at his arms.

And looks at Dagmar's arms.

And scratches his head.

"You have arms. I'm the one who's mostly 'armless."

"I really don't know all the rules... I'd appreciate help, yeah." She snorts and rumples Connor's ears. "Other kind of arms."

"Between the two of us, nothing will get past us. Because we're forewarned from our four arms."

Lip-twitch.

"Oh my" Nadeen says

"See? I got a good squire."

"He shows promise" Nadeen nods approvingly

"He does."

His tail wags at Dagmar's praise, and even faster at Nadeen's. "I'll be the best. I'll have SO MANY warts."

"...Warts?"

"I was told to learn about squire warts." A nod.

"So far, I don't have any..." Checking his hands.

"Squire Warts?" A pause "Oh... King Arthur?"

Brow-furrow.

"What do warts have to do with King Arthur?"

"Maybe he has some? Like.. on his BUTT." And Connor giggles at this naughtiness.

A tiny snerk, and a flush of purple.

"Wart was Arthur's use name, you might say, according to legend, he was squire for Sir Kaye, who was his..step brother? It's a whole sword stone thing"

"That... there's a movie, right?"

"I like movies... I just have one name, though. Except Buddy, but that's different. Is Buddy my use name? Or is Connor?" he considers this.

"I don't mean my NAME-name. That's MINE."

"Both, I think you can have more than one. I'm Sam and Dagmar and sometimes Hammerstrike."

"Dad is sometimes Ironhawk, and that one is badass."

"It does have a strength to it" Nadeen concurs

"AND you're a KING."

"Can't get much stronger than KINGS. Except Queens. Oh!" And he grubs into a pocket and pulls out a chess piece that he offers Nadeen. "I found her."

Nadeen takes the chess piece and looks over

It's slightly dirty, but intact. "I needed a queen of the castle for the castle I built out of sticks. But then it fell down anyways. Foosh."

"Well, we'll clean this off and it'll be fine" She says

He beams. "Next time maybe you can help make castles. It's fun... sometimes Jack helps, but he wants to play in the garden more." A foot scuffed a bit.

"Maybe you could put a castle in the garden?"
