"Yeah." Just as wistful.

"And... different. The way they think? I love that."

"It's cool, like... if I'm hungry? i'm just, you know, hungry. But a girl can be hungry, think of what the food reminds her of, and then get happy or sad about it while planning at the same time where they're going to eat later tonight and what they'll wear. I mean...it's like watching an orchestra while I'm just shaking a cowbell"

Adam laughs, but softly in the cafeteria. "Yeah. I get that. But when they -want- something???"

"Whew......." His eyes alight with appreciation.

"But try getting it out of them if they don't want to talk about it. Like we're just supposed to know. Like.. ah, telepathy not my gig"

"Nah." A grin. "You can tell. They tell you."

"Maybe you're better at it than I am. Sometimes I think I got a girl figured out only I said the exact wrong thing"

"Well, that's a tactic." He agrees between fries.

"When they.... ok, -some- girls... a lot, maybe..... when they want something they ....you gotta be aware, right? They might talk about it a lot, or send you stuff about it, or stuff -close- to about it. Might talk about and say 'Oh, not, not really interested but.....' So yeah. Like that."

"I don't know man, you have ticked off some girls yourself in your time" He munches his own fry "not saying you odn't have game, just saying you might not be always on target as you think you are, young skywalker"

"Huh?"

"You know, Siv and Sylvi... I know you're saying that's a 'them' thing not a 'you' thing, but if you were flawless in your approach... " wobby hand motion "Might not have happened." A grin "But still better than my own hoof in mouth"

"Ffrt." More fries. "Not gonna say but.... I never said I was flawless on approach. And they aren't the only options, right?"

"no no, there many shapely fish in this hormonal sea" A smile

"Ok, but.... you ok with Ramona?"

"Dude, she hasn't even asked me out. Are YOU okay if she does?"

"Yeah!"

A grin. "I got asked, so...."

"Cool then. " He ponders "Boggans are a bit on the thicc side at times, but on some of them it looks good. Oh well, whatever don't tell Lucia you told me. Not if you know what's good for you. She has pull in this school"

"YA THINK?"

"I know... dude, Lucia may not always like the whole boggan thing, but the gossip bit? Brrr."

"She has wings."

"oh those yeah" he nods "Pretty cool, but not really useful"

"Dude, why wouldn't we be?" He elbows him lightly "You get me more than most."

And Zane gets worried as his friend refuses to answer

"Got to buy me dinner first" Smirk

"Pizza and a coke count?" Smirk

"I'm not cheap..." A pause "Were talking a lot of pizza" A smirk

"How much?" Sucking on his straw.

"Considering how much I'd have to teach you? Life time supply" nod

"Ok, see? Here, Zane? My point is I could do a mom joke BUT I AM NOT...."

A laugh "Dude, you were the one who said moms were off limits"

"SEE?"

A snort

"Here man, you win" he hands one of his pizza slices over with a smile

He waves it off. "Dude. How can I help you?"

"I'm doing fine. Seriously. Sounds like some girls will be asking me out soon. I'll be nice, and if i like one, I'll say yes. I'm okay" Earnest nod

"Cool." Adam eats.

"You and Piper will have a blast."

And lunch goes on.
