Adam runs back to the fight.

By the time Adam returns, the spider has bite marks over it... but Dirk has wounds as well.

Adam takes a moment, as he runs up, to determine if the staff or mace would be better.

Staff might have more reach.

Handy, since it was already out. Adam attacks!

Adam's blow clips it, glancing really... but the goodnews is it doesnt' get stuck in the cobwebby thing...

oh, and he's got it's attention

"HA!" Adam attacks again, if he can.

One leg shoots out and nearly caves in a rib, or would have if it had hit..instead it is a miss

Dirk leaps at the thing, teeth bared

Adam takes the staff in both hands and manages to hit the creature's mandible, the venom flies to the side rather than sinking into the redcap... and dry chunks of filth and cob web fly. The force of the blow is enough that the weapon doesn't get trapped

Adam doesn't let up, attacking with vigor and intent, if less than actual skill.

Adam's next blow doesn't hit as squarely, it damages a leg, but also gets.. stuck!

He pulls the mace.

Dirk's bite cuts the underbelly of the spider, causing it to squeel

The spider scrambles trying to bite Diirk from the odd angle.. and this causes it to be open to an attack of the mace.

Adam's next blow strikes into the thick meat of a torn leg...and hits something crucial, causing ichor to flow in a great gush.

And there's another crunch under the spider... and ...it goes wild..from a death spasm

"DIE YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!"

A stomping of feet as the Chieftain arrives just in time to...well, be redundant, apparently.

The spider's legs and body thrashes, and Adam gets slammed in the face, a nasty bruise and bloody lips.

And there's a cry of pain below the spider and then more chewing..

and.. it stills

Curling.

Adam staggers back, dazed.

Brekke catches Adam and steadies him, then goes to yank the spider off of Dirk.

"HEY!" Adam almost strikes, but realizes it's Chief in time and stops.

He wipes his mouth.

Dirk is green mouthed, and is craddling his side, "Chief? Kid is safe... I think..."

Could be a broken rib

Adam nods, breathing heavy. "Lodge."

"You look like shit." He observes to Dirk.

"You're still the same turd" Dirk shoots back

"Yes, he got to the Lodge. Hold still," to Dirk, and she marks a healing rune on his side using ichor from the spider...then PRESSES her thumb against the wound, hard.

DIRK GRITS his teeth so hard they're a grinding noise

And a popping sound as a rib resets and holds proper. The young man looks less pale.

Brekke nods and helps Dirk to his feet. Then she turns to Adam to take a look at him.

Adam looks bruised, battered, and busted up.. not as bad as Dirk.. no broken bones.

He's tough, and shrugs it off.

"Hm." Brekke brushes off some of the dirt and stain from the shoulder of Adam's voile...but the act of brushing continues, and is in itself a bunk, as she continues around the boy.

And what would have made Adam look like his head was a Grape by tomorrow, is undone....bruises withdrawing before they can darken further. His lips seal

Adam holds still, blinking in confusion, but .... well, it hurts less. Not at all, in fact. "Uh. Thanks. I mean, thank you."

Brekke nods, then she looks to the spider. "If you wish to claim a trophy, do it quickly. I mean to discard of that."

"A trophy? Ew."

Dirk grabs two of the 8 eyes and has rips, "It's like it's made of cobwebs and dust. Symon will love this shit"

Brekke nods. "Agreed. Adam? You are certain? You helped defeat it."

"Oh. Yeah, I can see that." Adam looks at the chimera differently, trying to imagine if anyone else would want something from it......

Well, there are bristles of hardened dust, six eyes left..one good mandible drained of venom but dagger sharp.... legs are a bit unwieldy, but there's sticky goey spider armor

"Uh..... " He uses his staff to pull the mandible over. "Not like a trophy but ..... this, I guess...."

A nod. "A weapon might be crafted of that, yes. Now...you two should go to the Lodge and clean up. I will take care of this." She indicates the carcass.
