A flicker of glamour... and the woman, a 30 year old in a rush makes her way to the head of the line, and touches her ear briefly confused, then says "Okay... do you have the Ribsysurpreme?"

The girl at the counter nods "Yes, Miss... do you want that as part of... "But before she can finish the lady with the nice car and seflish attitude blinks

"Speak up. ... I can't hear you.. "

"I said Yes? We have it by itself, or a with a meal packet did you want..."

"All I hear is ringing can we get someone who doesn't mumble?" Despite the fact the counter girl is speaking louder now

Another customer tries to help "She said they have them"

"What?" the handicap parkign spot thief turns "This isn't funny!"

"I SAID WE HAVE IT, WOULD YOU LIKE..."

"Wait, stop yelling Bernice, I speak sign" The maanger comes up and starts to make gestures.

Adam watches with a faint smirk.

"hey asshole, I'm not deaf ..where is that ringing coming from?"

"And why aren't any of you speaking?" Okay NOW she's getting hysterical

She glances outside, and snaps her fingers. "I was hoping that there would be a cop to tow her car, but I guess that's a little too much to ask."

Other signs are being made, that of crazy in the head finger twirl by another customer.

I mean, if she's not deaf and is freaking out like this...

The lady gets more irate, "I ..oh god. I can't hear anything but the ringing... you have to stop this.. you have to help me..."

And sure enough, someone is calling the police.

Adam starts to look a little uncomfortable.

Her grin is starting to fade a little as the woman starts to beg for help. "Maybe... enough?"

"Yeah, it won't last more than another minute" Zane promises

Lucia says "Good. She's learned her lesson"

The police come in speaking "What's the problem here?"

"I'm deaf" the woman turns clearly hearing the cop "And I can't.. oh wait. I can hear you I... oh god"

Zane munches a fry.

"Wow. I bet she won't park in a handicap space lightly again soon," Lucia says "Nice fuddle, there Zane. And by nice I mean mean but good"

Adam scarfs up some more fries. "Think she'll put two and two together?"

"Not exactly, but I think the parking ticket will make a mark..." Zane says "And possibly a drug test. You guys think I was too hard on her? I didn't iknow she'd panic so quickly but I guess I should have"

"Dunno. I don't know."

He looks thoughtful.

Then shrugs, and polishes off the last of the fries.

Piper munches thoughtfully as well.

"She'll be fine I think," Lucia says "She's already protesting to the cop with a bit of attitude."

indeed.. the phrase "I pay your salary" comes out of the woman's lips

Adam shakes his head. "Yeah, don't think she learned to know when enough's enough."

"Nope... " Zane says "Yeah, she's going to get a drug test. "

Adam shrugs and sucks down some soda.

"I think a little of it will stick after this," Lucia says "Zane.. you barely knew that woman. That's.., impressive."

Zane blushes. "Thanks."

"Does that matter?"

"When working magic on mortals, the more you know them, the easier" Lucia says "Some of us can really only affect our best friends."

Piper nods. "And it gets... sticky, sometimes. trying to figure out how to work magic on something. Like, one person might be GREAT with things in the woods, like sticks, trees, twigs, but then give them a piece of paper, and it just... slides off? Oddness. Magic is mysterious, yo." She wiggles her hands in a 'wizardy' motion, and slurps her Dr. Zappo.

"My dad's the scary one... he could chicanery an entire class into thinking they're all members of congress in the year 1776."

"Chicanery?" Softly.

"Jedi tricks of the mind, my friend. I can make you see things that aren't there. Forget things you knew... and more... be hold... the great svengali lives"

a grin "But truthfully a lot is beyond me."

He nods. "So that's... ok."

"See, if it was me, I'd have hopscotched her keys away so that she couldn't move her car, and waited for it to get ticketed AND towed. But that's just because I never did learn to fuddle like that. Well, not yet."

"Hop... Wayfare?"

She 'ticks' a checkbox in the air with a fry, and then holds it out for him to bite. "Bingo!"
