"Investment?" Linnea eyes Gwen curiously.

"Sorry," A light blush "I mean, you are fond of the Chieftain and it would shield the hands of a valuable ally of Silverwolf"

Linnea frowns a little, looking somewhat troubled, and returns to scanning the crowd.

At that frown, she reminds "if you think I wouldn't use that lighter to help find and protect chuck, you'd be wrong. " Hoping she's read that concern right, probably not.

A silent nod, Linnea seems done discussing for now.

Meanwhile, Ace Piquet, handsome piskey in a dapper suit, heads over to bow to Siv and Talia. "Ladies." Doffing his hat, which has a plumed feather on it... because of course it does.

Zara checks her pockets.

He only just got there! He hasn't even shaken a hand...

Siv doffs her own hat in returned greeting, avoiding the hand shake

"Quite a remarkable event so far. Wasn't expecting such a turnout, but when it includes ladies as lovely as this come from afar, well, they should throw parties more often." A rakish grin.

"Such flattery."

"Lady Captain Siv Waveborne , this is my friend, Talla. And you, silvertongue? You have a name?"

"Of course I must have a silvertongue, to match my silver hair. Ace Piquet, at your service. I'm a local, quite regarded around Silverwolf, so if you'd ever care for a personal tour, why, you need only ask."

Siv looks amused "So kind to offer, but I have my own ways around. And I doubt you could keep up with Talia"

His eyes sparkle, "You judge me, without even the chance to try!"

"My kith is about guardianship, not fair play" Siv smiles

"And mine about adapting, which is why I can roll with the punches. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, after all."

"Now that's a truth" Siv smiles "Alas , I have my loves, and even when things are rough, I must decline. If it's any consultation, you seem a charming fellow . If I weren't attached who knows?"

'Talia' can tell a bit of sadness in her friend's eyes

He moves his fingers, and seemingly from out of nowhere, a card appears, and he offers it to her. "My number, keep it."

She takes it, "I move my own furniture"

"Well, cheer up. You're too pretty a lass to look so glum. Ah, here." He offers over a piece of jewelry as well. "I think you dropped this."

It's Siv's, alright.

"Good hands" she admits and looks over the card even as she takes the jewelry back

He bows again, hands clasped loosely behind his back. "Hope to see you again sometime, Captain, Miss." And he wanders on, looking for more... available conversation.

Siv is not too proud to check out her other items. Including the money Sally mae loaned her.

It has his contact details, looks like he runs a small mortal business in town, a sporting goods store.

"Huh " She looks "Actually I will call you.. got a firend who loves basketball. THank you, Ace"

And she means it

He waves back, and then approaches - well, he was looking towards that Eilunid Countess, now THAT's a dish... but a single glare from one of her guards has him pretending he was heading for the drink table all along. And Ace moves on.

Talia hears a whisper from behind her... "Did that piskey steal from you, lady? Shall I arrange for him to fall prey to wild beasts in the wilderness?" Lizbet blinks up at the fancy sluagh.

Zara does check!

"Alas, not today. Vengeance, it seems, must wait another." Quatre scuttles from Lizbet to the lady.

Siv hears the whispering "You have a friend, there, Miss Talia?"

A soft sigh. "Thank you for lending your spider. She seems a good companion." If Talia shifts to show Siv who she speaks to, Lizbet shifts in turn, remaining deftly behind the other sluagh.

"A shy friend, Captain." Gently.

"Ah, my apologies to your friend. I am, I'm told, incurably boisterous atimes compared to most me kith"

"As am I." A wry smile.

"Tch." A disbelieving sound. "You are the most graceful thing I've ever seen. All white and red, like a wounded swan bleeding onto a frozen lake."

Siv whispers "By Bragi, the girl's a poet"

"That is a very flattering comparison. Thank you. Wold you jon me?"

"Would you two feel more comfortable if I were to withdraw? I am not offended. I know sometimess there are things among the gentle terrors they prefer to keep to themselves" And she respects that, willing to let them have their sluagh moments

"Could I?" Lizbet asks, a little surprised, but with clear longing. "It is ever so desolate here."

"It can be difficult to find shadows beneath a winter's sunlight."

She nods, flicking a wary glance over to the nobles - a stunningly handsome man kisses the Baroness's hand, and unseen behind her, Baron Aiden's own hand tightens on his wine glass as he watches.

"I am not completely deprived, I have my dear uncle - not by blood, but spiderwebs bind ties even closer... but he is so dreadfully stiff and dusty."

"Ah, Nadeen's better than most" Siv assures both sluagh "not saying she's going to hug one of you, but.. well, I've seen her put her biases aside"
