Squire Valter cleans the various weapons and sets of armor with precision and experience . The grump troll tries to make sure that the various folks of import find their gear in the best shape. Some may not notice that the weapons are always keen and armor and high shine.

Brekke notices. More to the point, she notices that they're kept that way without effort on her part. At first, this was unsettling. However, she's come to appreciate it. A nod to the Squire as she passes him at his work. "Well done," she says to him.

"THank you, Chieftain. Would you like a report on most recent patrol updates?"

"Yes, I would. Problems first."

"Ives reports sight of an odd Chimera, they appear to be stags in general shape, but their antlers are like blades, and they are carnivores. He believes they're stalking childlings but is not sure. He just found out and I consider it the priority as it involves the safety of little ones. "

She frowns. "A priority indeed. Where?"

"Wandering between the wood and the lake, though the latter only in the evening..so far. One was seen at the children's playground" He says

"Hm." A nod. "I will go to the playground first to see if I can spot one. What other news?"

"Lady Captain Siv's patrol encountered a drunk house brother who nearly wandered into traffic. apparently his lady has spurned him, and he is on a bender. She sent word she is going to play disignated sober lioness for a bit until she can get him out cold and tucked in"

A hint of amusement. "If he tries anything she does not like, more woe to him."

At that, Valter actually gives just a bit of a smile "Yes. If the liquor doesn't knock him out, poor behavior on his part will"

"Patrols about Goldfinch are increasingly handled by volunteers there."

She nods. "As it should be. I suspect that we will be less likely to hear about trouble there until after they have handled it, or if they are unable to handle it and need help."

"I confess, I do wish they'd keep us in the loop a bit more" He adds "The last news of Patrol I have is from Peacekeeper Dirk? He is still mentoring Jodi in the ways of a redcap. Apparently he is waylaying litterbugs with her aid then running before they can be quote made unquote. I think he is counting on your love of nature's beauty to cut him some slack"

A brow. "How bloody is this 'waylaying'?"

"He did not elaborate" Valter says

"Hm." Her expression reveals a hint of internal conflict and tells Squire Valter that Dirk's gamble may not be far off. "I do not wish to undermine him. When you speak with him next, tell him that I strongly encourage him to cause fear rather than injury in these cases."

Squire Valter nods "I shall. He respects you as he respects few others. that is all i have on patrols. The Mountain is back to teaching high school and says he will be in later this evening. Thane Tiffany is with her child but can patrol if we run short. Rover Olgar is on the silver with his own apprentice."

She nods. "Good. Thank you, Squire. A good report. I will go down to the playground now to seek out those deer."

A nod "Any message you wish me to pass on to the hearth or others?"

"Alert them to the issue with the deer. Beyond that...no, I think all is well."

And off she goes, while he tends to his duties

The Chieftain has a stride that eats up distance quickly, and she's approaching the playground in no time.

It seems deserted but...

She focuses on the ground looking for a way to track the creatures...

the antlers, sharp as swords, slide into her side as she was bending down!

A gasp and roar of outrage!

She reaches with he silver hand to grasp the blades and yank them free.

She has found herself surrounded by fanged stags as she pulls the beast from her, it's antlers cutting on the way out too. Four of them bare fangs more suited to a carnivoree

She rises quickly and gets Speaker into her free hand, striking the one that had stabbed her first.

THey are tough things, but she's a Storm, a warrior! And Speaker is fierce!

So she hews one, but the others, flanking, strike at her thighs and back

She bellows again and swings the heavy blade in a wide arc against as many of her foes as she can reach.

As one bites at her, cutting with antlers at same time, it crumples as she breaks its spine with a blow that keeps going to smash the next in the back hip....

She fights the rage of the falcon, the beserker fury that would have her kill all about her!

So tempting to let it loose, though, that rage. She could use it in this situation! Instead, though, she uses the swing of the axe as a bunk to channel Holly Strike from her hand to these creatures.

THe explosion does what Speaker can't, it engulfs all the stags at once! Finishing off the one already nearly dead. Wounding the others and buying her space!

She lashes out again and again with her weapon, not giving the stags time to regroup after the blast.

Their fight turns to flight, but not before she kills all but one, that last one lopping along with a limp to get away

No. She pursues it. It must not get away.

If it didn't have a wounded hip, she'd have no chance. But it does, and she has a chance
