She checks.

"Yes. Mortal bullets. I.. I put myself in the way to protect Connor from any fire, and got him to shelter. One of the sisters shot, and one of the sisters resisted the order."

Brekke blinks. "One resisted." A thoughtful frown.

"Bad situation, as they were both Oathbound to Calanthe. Linnea blocked the bullet, but in doing so..." A shrug. "She saved at least one life, and arguably more."

"But Danica was Dictumed, Oathbound, and we didn't KNOW Nadeen's plan would work, or if the chimera-thing would hurt the Bale. See what I mean? Shit show."

"It was a sh...cary show." Connor agrees.

"But Nadeen is all right?" Concerned.

"There's no winning there. After Linnea stopped the bullet, Danica raged..." A frown.

"Scary." Connor NODS.

Wide eyes again at the mention of rage.

"Nadeen is alright. I couldn't stop Danica proper, but I had that Werewolf Whistle? It worked! Stopped her fury."

"Sylvi was holding Calanthe so the sidhe couldn't fire off any more cantrips."

It may take her a moment to place the 'werewolf whistle' but then she does recall it and nods. "Wisely used."

"I think you could've." Defending Dagmar. "But there was a dog there and you didn't want nobody to step on em."

"MY Knight is stronger'n anybody."

"Correct, protecting you was my priority."

A small grin at Connor's boast of his knight.

"Okay, so... then we just WAITED. Nadeen and Aiden were in a kind of magic-y trance."

"Sylvi made a big magic." He nods. "But not one we could see."

"But she was all droopy afters."

"Whatever happened, it sorted out his head. And changed them - changed Connor, too. Nadeen looks older, the Baron looks younger, and Connor, well..." She gestures.

A blink, and she looks at Connor under the towel. "Connor?"

"Big restoration. I bet Sylvi could explain the magic parts better. But Aiden DID go scary soothsayer on Calanthe. Was like 'may Da'an decide,' yeah?"

Jonas sips his coffee, observing

"So Da'an turned Calanthe into a fuckin' pigeon."

Brekke blinks. "A...pigeon." Another blink.

And...a hint of a grin.

Oddly shy, he peeps out at her from under the troll-sized terrycloth. "My ears and tails fell off, rattle-rattle-tat."

Another look at Connor...and then a look...and a started expression. "You...your seeming has changed?"

"Those little brownish grey ones? Not the jerk city pigeons."

"Mourning doves."

Absently, Brekke says, "Mourning doves," and nods while still looking at Connor.

"Right, so. Big magic, Connor looks like a regular boy to muggles, and Aiden and Nadeen are gonna co-rule together even though she can't Trueheart."

He pulls the towel off and balls it up in his lap. "Does it look weird? I think it might look weird. "

"He asked Connor to stay..."

"Amazing" Jonas observes "it's not a temproary thing, no metamophosis. . he HAS been restored and.. pardon I'm rambling"

It is a great deal of information to take in.

"Did he? And...Connor, what did you say to that request?" Wondering if that's what the boy was upset about before.

Connor starts to respond, then he just shakes his head, and looks to Dagmar.

Dagmar has a hint of purple. "He said he wanted to stay with me." Softly.

"All my stuff is here." He nods firmly. "My bed, my toys, my Chief, my Dagmar, my Sister, oh, my light up sneakers..."

That gets a grin and a nod. "Wise choice, Connor."

"But if he asked you to stay...Dagmar, what was the Baron's reaction to Connor's choice?"

She's anticipating some sort of resentment.

"He seemed okay with it. I think he gets that he needs to earn a relationship."

"Ten years is a long time."

"Sometimes." Connor pipes in.

Brekke nods. "That is...perhaps more than I gave him credit for. I did not think him capable of...." She trails off.

"And yeah, Connor can visit. I know there's the Dark Gate trod..."

"What of the mourning dove? She is gone permanently?"
