Adam doesn't seem interested. He puts the check in his pocket and looks back to beckon his dad.

His father waits till the girls are out of earshot and mostly eye sight, then joins his son, "How'd it go?"

"Eh. They gave me a check. Here." He hands it over.

He takes it "WHo uses a CHECK these days?" His father sounds surprised

"I dunno, never seen one. Well, in movies." He moves in towards the house.

"Okay. I'll cash it for you get you your money... or maybe touch up the car"

And his father follows

"Use it for the car. I really don't want it."

Inside, Adam pauses. "You, uh, need me for anything else?"

"Just dinner... The pizza .. go tell your mom what you want on it and so on?" A nod "You got plans tonight? "

"I was going to study."

"Study? I.. am surprised. I respect it, but I'm surprised. Want us to have the pizza brought up to you?" He's curious but not prying too hard

"Uh... I don't know. I might need a break or be in a groove. I'll ask mom when it should be ready and come down. Might take it back with me."

"Sure" As they enter in "Honey, your son kicked my ass in sparring practice today and my ego is bruised."

"My son when he's a winner huh?" Brenda peeks out "I can accept that." Then a shake of her horned head "what toppings do you two want?"

"What's available?"

"We got pepperoni, bacon, canadian bacon, sausage, black olivers, green olives, peppers, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and onion.. any of that sound good?"

"Jeeze... uh, meat lover's please?"

"Running it through the butchershop" She says with a nod "And yours, husband o mine?"

Adam slips away upstairs.

Kyle ponders "Same with some mushrooms. Thanks"

And upstairs Adam goes

He fishes his laptop and the book the Mountain lent him out of his bag and drops onto his bed to read.

The mountains' book is informative and a good primer

He pages through it, refreshing on it.... then he sets it aside and opens the laptop, pulling up an ebook from the library to read.

This time he looks less pained and straining to get through it; an easier read?

Shortly, there is a knock "Pizza's ready"

"Ok, thanks... I'm coming!" He closes the laptop and heads downstairs.

The pizza smells fantastic!

"Thanks mom." And yes, he can eat a whole pizza on his own.

"You're welcome, dear" she gets her own more form fitting one "I made another pizza for the Kings. Tove is ah...probably swamped in food, but there are social expectations and I figure pizza will be welcome and easy for them to store"

He swallows. "How come?"

"New baby! " Tove says "Every Changeling family around sent food ..."

"The baby came??"

"Oh my goodness, I'm sorry you didn't know.. yes, C.J.. clint james King... a boy" she says

"Just like Jaymes Sr. ordered" Kyle strokes his chin nodding approvingly.

Adam grins. "Cool." He eats another slice.

"Sure is..hey, how about I send you out to drop off the pizza at their house later?"

"Can do." Another slice gone.

"Thanks" She smiles. "Now, to fill you in..." And Adam gets more news about the baby weight and stuff than he probably is really interested in, but hey...

The Lodge is calm and quiet. The couch is horizontal.
