Below... Brekke is getting word from the locals, not bad news, but wondrous. Unicorns have been seen, and almost always driving back the worst of the nightmare plague chimera with the light of their horns.

"Unicorns?" She is surprised. "Their assistance is, of course, greatly welcome, but...this is very unusual. I wonder why they have been drawn here to help?"

"Darned if I know," Marsha tells her, "But I'm glad they did. If you see Kerri please tell her I've got more books for those stuck homeschooling. Not everyone has the internet even in these times"

"I will let her know, and thank you." She gives a solemn nod. "Are you and yours doing well?"

"Oh well, since you ask... you know my Husband would normally be ..doing more college things than he is?" Marsha lowers her voice

"Ahh...yes?" Not sure about the need for the lowered voice.

"I swear, if I don't find more things for him to do I may have to ask somoene's help in burying him" She confides "I love him, but he's trying to 'help'; around the House. His Help sets me back 3 hours"

"Ah. Well...I do not know if he would be interested in helping the wilders with their studies? We do use cantrips to defend against infection," she adds.

"Really? they need a teacher? Oh that's wonderful Chieftain, I'm sure I can convince him ...thank you" RELIEF

"Not a teacher as much as a tutor, I think. No lessons, but support when they need it. Does that make sense?"

"Oh" A bit dissapointed as a teacher might have gotten used more "Yes, well, there's that. I'll point it out to him. ANything that gets me my schedule back"

"Their regular teachers have sent work home, you see. And some are using computers to connect, when possible. I would not want to see him in conflict with them. But perhaps..." A thought. "Hm. Perhaps instruction in Concordian history."

"He would excell at that" She says a bit of pride slipping in with the relief. She does love him after all, and respects his talents. She just doesn't want him trying to reorder things she works with.

"Then...yes. I can promise you an hour daily with the childlings and wilders who live here, at least, and whatever others I can arrange to join. That will give you some time, but I cannot promise you more than that."

"Oh that's still wonderful, and I can offer my help to you or Kerri on other times when he's going to be at the house to watch Lydia. "

"I think this is a good arrangement. Please tell him I wish to speak with him. I will ask him for the service personally, so you will not seem to be involved."

"Oh good. Frank always seemed so sensible I didn't know if you even ever had to learn 'husband management', but I guess we all do" She nods

"Oh, he is very sensible...but even he has had times when he has paced this Lodge like a caged bear. He is fortunate the Hearth is patient, as well."

"Oh my" She ponders "I do wonder what Kerri will do when Olgar is almost entirely retired? Well, I'm her friend. If need be I'll help with the body"

A chuckle. "Well, we shall see."

"Well, in that case, it's getting late and I'll leave you be. I do think it's amazing. Unicorns to the rescue. Husbands being given things to do. Both miracles if ever there were" And she moves to the door

"Have him come speak with me in the morning," she reminds Marsha. "And be safe."

"I will" And off she goes

And Brekke knows that unicorns , as a rule, don't just show up to save the day , not in mass. mmm Something to ponder

And ponder she does. After a moment, she goes to the Balefire and watches its flames for several minutes. Eventually, she takes a deep breath, then murmurs, "I do not understand the why of it, but I thank the Dreaming for the added help." A respectful bow to the 'fire, as the Dreaming's agent.

The fire flickers and curls in response...warmth and...

briefly, she sees a figure, a figure holding up the banner of Rivervale, and planting it.

But the image blurs after that brief snip

Her brow furrowed, she watches.

Then it fades. "Hm."

After a moment, she goes to a large cedar trunk kept near the Balefire. Noble lodges would have a more ornate chest in which to hold regalia, but this trunk, handcrafted with love and care, suits the Lodge better. She opens it respectfully, and carefully moves a few items until she can withdraw the pennons banner, folded with precision.

Or not... it has been folded, but not as precisely as she left it. Someone took this out.

They put it back, but mmm

A frown. She takes it to a table and very carefully unfolds it, gathering glamour as she does so.

And a question: "Who held you last, before I hold you now?"

"The Rover Of your Lodge"

A surprised blink. "And where did he take you?"

"Onto the Silver, into the glade, where the Unicorns thrive"

"I see. And what happened then?" A far too vague question, she knows, but....

"A plea, a demand, past debts called due, to those saved and others, and ending with the words earn your keep you poofy mutherfuckers" It says flickering and sounding.. kind of Olgar like at that last.
