The old troll smiles, "Now let's see if we have this working..." he holds up the hat, "Who wants to go first?" Torin Torad eyes the childlings around him. The hat is pointed, and in the shape of a certain famous hat used in a magic school in novels and famous movies... except it's made of some patches of different materials. Still, any kkid has a chance to guess what it is- A sorting hat!

Jack gasps, "No way!"

Lily shots a look at the loud boy but he ignores her.

Margalita agrees, "It's a sorting hat?"

Lucjan &  Lauge can't raise their hands fast enough

"Oh yes, but it doesn't divide you in houses or apart, but rather it gives you your power name. Now you know that Changelings all have at least three names. Their fae name, their moral name , and yes, their true name....but this grants you a power name, a name where some power lies, not all your power, but something you might not have known about yourself, or maybe you did. "

The old troll smiles

Connor bounces in his seat, eager to hear more. "I have -four- names already!"

"Oh m y, then can you bear the weight of yet..." Torin raises a brow "Another?"

"Wait, no, because my Fae name and my mortal name are the same. Unless Buddy is my mortal name?" He looks perplexed.

The dramatic pause is somewhat lessened by the boy's shift and the uncertainty , the old troll says in a conspirtal not quite whisper "Give you a secret, it's not always the number of names you have, it's the honor you bring those names by your behavior. But still fun, and sometimes a new name teaches you something."

LucJan and Lauge both re yank their hands up, volunteering HARDER

The old skald looks at the troll boys, and grins, "If I pick one of you first the other might get sore, but let's see." He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a coin. and he flips it.

"LucJan, you go first," He says.

"YES!" One of the twins, LucJan, of course, bounces up and down. and approaches.

Lauge sulks a bit

"Now now, first is not always a sign of anything but it's impressive both of you volunteered," Torin says assuring. And he puts the hat over LucJan's head

And it speaks , it's stitches forming lips and a voice says "What's this below me? A competitor to the bone! Stronger, Higher, Faster! Trying he never will disown! Within him the heart of a challenger and Champion does rise! I hearby dub you by the name, Glory-Eyes!"

Lauge does cheer "That is COOL"

Lily hangs furhter back but tilts her head ,eyiing the hat. It gives secrets? Interresting. But how to use this to her gain? Currently just watching

Malcolm now looks intrigued, the Eshu grins "Will it worked on Unsained?"

"It might," Torin says, "Lauge, up you go."

The other troll twin almost stomps OVER his brother to get there.

"Hey,"

"Sorry"

"Are not."

"Are too."

"BOOOYS..." The olderr voice

"Sorry, Skald" they say at the same time.

The hat works again, "You're loyalty incarnate, a friend through and through. You're the shelter in life's storms against trouble of many forms! And through it all, you stand tall, and want them tall too. Loyalshield is the name I'll give you"

Lauge puffs up. And this time his brother whoops

"Connor, would you like to go next?" Torin offers

He lingers back shyly. "Unless Lily wants to go first? I like pushing ahead in line."

"Lily would you like to... where did she go?" He blinks

"Oh, she does that." He steps forward, ready. "Mind my ears, they like to dance on their own.

"They lika the cha cha" Jack agrees

And the hat goes over Conner

He gives it a good sniff, then gingerly rests on his head

Well, now it smells bit like trolls

And it speaks over his head "When the clouds are thick, and folks are tired and sick, you're there to bring some joy you know jjust what will do the trick! you're a clever little fella, and I don't have to smell ya to know your kind. For you are kind! You see lips in a frown, and whoos on your rounds, you lend open ear and gentle gaze. You hope to keep things light, but your soul is even more bright, and you share happiness like a blaze. You are just about the nicest pooka I ever saw, so I dub thee Kindpaw!"

The troll twins clap for him... not as loud as Jack. "You are!"

His jaw drops, and he exclaims, "All lies. I'm the rootin-est, shootin-est, baddest paw in the west!" Blushing a little, he offers the hat to Jack.

Jack moves up and gives his friend a hug then takes a breath and silps under the hat

"I see not all Dreamers are mortals, not all builders work with hands. You try for a better world than you had. And who could ever blame you, no point in trying to shame you, you've seen a lot of things that are sad. So you strive to bring it together, to build a kind of shelter, not just for you but others that you adore. Because you've been through dark days, and hope to find the lightways, and strive towardss everyone getting a new morn... it's onlhy prope that you get the name Dawnhorn"

"I don't even have horns..yet" The boy blushes

"And a name like that could get my ass kicked on the street," He tells Torin.

"So don't use it on the street," Torin smiles
