She's hanging back, chewing on her thumb.

A nod in response, and she looks at Dagmar. "Dame Dagmar, do you agree?"

"I... I really want to have my own horse." True!

Brekke controls a grin. "I believe Star is in favor of the arrangement as well. It does mean," she adds more seriously, "that I will expect to call on you to ride in times of need. But that is much as it already is...and I know that I can trust you to serve." Another nod. "You have your spurs in fact, now. I know you will be kind in their use."

"I'd never want to hurt Star!"

"...Can I take her to the Dreaming? To fly?"

A nod. "That is part of why she is yours, now."

"Hmm." Brekke frowns in consideration of this, adding an eyebrow. "What of starting at the Farm? Would that be acceptable?"

Jaymes stands stoicly, but fellow parents can see the pride still glowing like an ember.

"Well, the Farm is in the Dreaming, mostly - right? I know it wouldn't be safe to try it where mortals might see..."

"And.. and she'd have to practice, both of us would, if we wants to, like, fly in combat?"

"A sound point," Brekke nods. "Start at the Farm. Ask the Chieftain for guidance about where you will be able to stay out of sight. Five practice sessions there, then consult with Rover Olgar...and then yes, I will approve of flight in the Dreaming."

She grins!

"Thank you, Chief!"

Jaymes puts a hand on his daughter's shoulder and raises a single brow (I reserve the right to worry a bit)

pleased look (Just a bit)

Brekke nods. "You have earned this honor. Thank you, Dame Dagmar. And Jaymes...thank you and Tove for letting your daughter serve."

"I do not think I could stop her any more than one can stop a horse from running with the wind. It is in her" He says "But you are welcome"

Mumble-shrug.

Brekke's eyes show amusement. "I agree with you, but it is a courtesy to thank you as if you had a say in the matter."

Frank huffs.

A grunt nod.

"...Could Star and I try jousting you and Stormwake, sometime? You could teach us?"

Brekke retrieves her mug and takes a sip. "You may try." Still that grin.

"Mmmph, Edelweiss isn't getting a horse" Gerd pats her favorite dog from the steps then she smiles "Congratulations, Dagmar."

"Edi almost IS a horse."

"To Dame Dagmar." Frank lifts his mug, and drinks.

"Oh, I'm very sure we're gonna lose a lot! But we might win, too!"

"Edelweiss and Oak will both be getting recognition of their own, as will Star and Stormwake." Then Brekke joins in the toast.

Dag purples.

"And yes, you will likely lose often at first. But it is more important that you grow strong in the joust...for you must represent Rivervale, too, in competition and in combat."

Jaymes nods "To my daughter"

Edelweiss wags happily

She swells up, just a bit. "Okay."

"Then..." Brekke reaches out to shake her hand, the final seal of the deal.

A shy smile but a solid handshake.

A firm grip, but not painful.

"Awesome."

"Hey, Dad - you know the spinny guy in Knight's Tale? Think you could help me build one?"

Frank's beard moves.

"Sure. " He says "Poppinjay or something like that?"

"Maybe?"

Brekke nods. "One would be useful."

"We will make one" He says

Another sip of coffee. "Hm. I wonder if I should mention this to Baron Kealan...."

"That I don't know. I've never actually jousted, unless you count the car."

Gerd says "Car counts. Totally"

An eyebrow. "Dagmar, most jousters start with the game, and never learn how to use the skill in combat. You have the practical application. The game is different, but...you have an advantage."

"I think the car was part memory. That happened with Blueberry, too, the first time - like, another me knew how?"

Brekke nods. "I am not surprised. And I am pleased."
