"I don't know. You're the one who claims to be good."

Tove says "Adam, she has troll strength, yes, but the skill she has is all hers. I think you two should just go out, have fun. Naturally I think she's skunk you but I'd think that anyway even if she wasn't fae. I'm her mom. I am taking sides."

Sullen. "I don't think I want to."

"How come?"

Shrug, scuff.

"Didn't mean for it to be unfair. I don't have extra strength or height against mortals."

"Yeah, but I'm, uh, Enchanted now." Excited.

"Right, so now I'm huge."

Tove raises a brow.

"Girl, you got a couple inches on me, yeah! I haven't been shorter than the girls since, like, 7th grade! I had a growth spurt early."

"Like a foot."

"Do you have a bias against tall girls, Adam?" Tove says a touch crisply.

"No." Blankly. "There just haven't been any since 7th Grade. I mean, taller than me."

She chews on a hangnail and shrugs. "Like you said, I guess it wouldn't really be fair."

"Well, we could do something else if you want. I have till 3."

Shrug again. "I dunno. You have other questions?"

"Well......" He thinks, resting his chin on the staff. "Hey, yeah, you made this?" The staff.

She nods. "Just carved it, a bit... the leaves and stuff. But I screwed up, so that's why it wound up too short..."

"Well, too short for trolls."

The Chimerical oak is a nice one, Blueheart Oak is the type of Dream Tree it fell from.

"You want fancy, you should see Tove or Chief's work..."

Indeed, if he looks about, Adam might notice both mortal and chimerical wood workings. The house's own structure now has fine displays.

Now that she draws the boy's attention to it... "Hey... these are good." Sincerely impressed.

One dark wood owl spreads it's wings. A bear of redwood ambles along. There's a wooden flute with nordic runes on the underside

"Thank you. The Chief would never say it, but she's at least as good as I am if you ask me. "

"The Lodge is pretty decorated, too..."

"The Lodge is... really big."

Tove smiles, "It kind of has to be."

"Built for trolls, y'know?"

He nods. "I guess so, yes." A beat. "So... wait... does that mean when people who aren't Enchanted are around, it's different? Like you are?"

"It might look a little different. " Tove says "For fae, a mobile home might look like a hobbit hole"

"That'd be cool."

"Wait, wait!" Realization. "So the Lodge is like that 'cause the Chief is the Chief, right?!"

"The Lodge is smaller, that's for sure. It bleeds into the Dreaming..."

"Yup! It'd be different if it were a sidhe or satyr in charge."

"Honestly you'd want to talk to our mountain for talk on Freeholds with details. He's a shaman and knows magic"

She keeps her gaze down, picking at her fingernails.

Tove puts a gentle hand on her daughter's shoulder. Meant to be a soothing support gesture.

"Yeah, magic, how does that work? Sally Mae said sometimes Kinain can learn how? Hey, is she dating anyone?"

She shrugs off the hand with a scowl.

"Well, magic takes glamour. Um... the stuff in the fire, the stuff chimera are made of, the stuff that makes you glow?"

"How do you get that? Am I really glowing?" He checks his hand and arm.

"You can do lots - you saw how Siv jumped. You can talk to plants, or change your face, or summon thunder..."

"From the Fire, or... musing, which is, like, inspiring mortals to MAKE glamour... or dross?"

"When I made that oath, I felt something...."

"I'll get you two drinks. I see your glass is empty. Soda this time?" Tove says

"Oh, gee, thanks Mrs. King."

"We got Grape, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, and ... Sprite"
