"Happy to help. Good luck man" He gets out of the car. At the same time a woman comes out..damn!

"hey mom" he waves to the MILF

Is every third woman in this county a hottie of one sort or another?

"Hey, who'se your friend?" She gives him a hug

"Oh, This is Adam. New to the area."

"Hi Adam." She smiles "Hope you like what you find here"

"Oh, uh, yeah. Yes. Yes ma'am. Thank you."

"ma'am?" She says

"Well, now I feel old" She says with humor.

She does not look old she looks.. ah

"Mom, he didn't mean anything by it. Colton says Ma'am too. Anyway, see you around, Adam" He waves

"See ya, Zane." He waves back and idles at the curb till they're indoors. "Damn."

Yup. Damn indeed. He's not sure what's in the water around here but they should share it with the rest of t he country.

Adam takes a moment, then goes to see if he can find this sporting goods store.

The sporting good store turns out to be at the same plaza he just left, which is amusing- if you're not paying for gas. Greely's Sporting Goods doesn't look fancy on the outside, and that's probably intentional. It's got that no nonsense Brickwork and sign that appeals to some. The bell rings (A real bell too) as he opens the door and takes a look around.

Basketball.... he gravitates naturally.

Looks like Basketball has a sizable section.

And a pretty good selection. Quality over quantity

He looks around with interest.

"Can I help you?" The store owner , or at least the supervisor / manager comes around. He's got a pugnacious sort of mug, reminding Adam of part characters who play mobsters in old movies. Some guns on him too. He may use his own weights.

"Well, sir, I was wondering if you are hiring for the school year."

He looks the kid over "For all the talk about 'booming job market' I got grown adults who sometimes ask about a job. You got anythng to offer to the job they don't?"

"Youth, vigor, and a network of sports-playing peers?" Confidently

"Well... you got a resume?"

"Yessir, but not on me." Apologetically. "Do you have an application I could take home, and return with a resume?"

"Sec" He goes into a small office. A moment later, he comes out with it "Fill this out and bring it back with whatever you thinik will help your case. Truth is? I could use a little help. School starting up. That means sports supplies get bought up by every wanna be sports star. Stay at home moms get their houses back too... yoga mats will be trotted out."

"Sure thing. And thanks! I'll be back for my own supplies, mister....?"

"Greely. I own the place" he says "And your name?"

He offers his hand. "Adam Thomas."

He takes it, shakes it, firm grip but nothing to prove. "Okay. I close at 8 tonight. Be back before then and we're good"

"Yessir." A grin. "Thanks. " And off he goes home to crank out a resume. It is mostly summer jobs and school related accomplishments, but....

While he's working on that...

"Whatcha doing?" a voice pipes up behind him

His sister

"Working."

"You mean you're actually going to CLEAN your room?"

His sister is being cheeky

and possibly bossy but hey

A huff. "'Course I am. Later. Busy now."

"That's what you said last night..and its' still kinda messy" child logic

He huffs again. "Mind your business, I'll do it!"

"MOOOOOMMM... Adam's yelling at me!"

"I'm NOT YELLING!!!"

"Well someone is yelling I can hear you both from the kitchen"

That last, mom, and she's closing in.

Adam keeps working.

"Now, Diablo, Diabla, what's going on ?" THeir mom asks

"I'm trying to write a resume and fill out a job application and she thinks she needs to badger me about my room." with injured dignity.
