Sam grins a little. "Yeah, you're good. Lupe, scoot over..."

"Yeah sorry just.. you know I'm not going to complain" he says and takes a seat "Thanks"

"yeah yeah" Lupita says

Sam settles her tray on her lap - she gets a free lunch, but used extra pocket money for a gatorade.

They settle and talk "Anyway... " Zane says "I got this crazy idea"

"Yeah?"

"Did you know" he says "That in the back of the cafeteria, stored away in the big freezer, is a block of ice the size of Jimmy?"

"Hey" May says protectively as her boyfriend is mentioned.

"Hey, Jimmy is a perfectly reasonable unit of measure..."

"Wait I think we're missing something... what about this block of ice?" Lupita pushes

"Well," Zane says "if say, right now, the main fan area is only blowing hot air..."

"We KNOW that" Gonzalez says testily

"But if that block were to be say..borrowed, and put in front or behind it..." he suggests and lets it hang.

"So... what? Put the ice in front of the fan?"

A nod

"Somebody would need to distract the cafeteria ladies..."

"THat would get us in SO much trouble.." May says

"I can help with the distraction" Lupita says

"It'll make a huge wet mess, Zane" may is definitely not sure about this

"It can't get any worse..."

"You know, I got nothing against the janitors, but when in the course of academic events it becomes neccesary for the student body to dissolve some ice and free themselves from the authority of the administrative body that left them to broil" Zane says quite sincerely.

May blinks "That sounds kind of familiar"

"Weirdo. Okay, let's do this."

"Okay, who does what? We need a plan on who is where and so on" Lupe suggests

"I can carry the ice."

"Use gloves...from the science lab" May says "oh god am I helping? I'm helping"

"Lupe, you think you can help with doors?"

"Sure can if you don't want me on distraction?"

"i can handle distraction" Zane offers

"Yeah, Zane, I bet you can..."

"Okayy... yeah, what do you need me to do?" may says

"Hmm. Lookout?"

"Okay. I can do taht" Nervous swallow

Lupita says "Hey, May, this is just like any other sport where you're on the opposite of the field, distance or not, you know we've got your back and youv'e got ours"

"You'll be fine... and you're tall, you can see stuff!"

Reassured by both of her friends ,May is ready to try it.

It all was going so well... there was this slipping in..and lord, Zane can distract and annoy ANYONE...

Stealth isn't Sam's strong point, but she moved quietly enough ,and with her muscle? NO problem sliding that ice which was, by the way, exactly Jimmy sized

And they even stuck it BEHIND the fan for maximum efficiency

until Sam made the mistake of letting the lid slam down, with her on the WRONG side.. and it ECHOING through the hall.

Trapped!

"...Shit..."

With the evidence!

"We have to get her out" may says

She pushes outwards on the lid - maybe she can strongarm her way out?

May worries 'no one is strong enough to..."

The rivet latch finally breaks..well bends and snaps, qhich is quieter.. and Sam makes it out

May whirls "How? That's impossible" And for a moment Sam winces... disbelief from a friend. Ouch.. it's not like.. gonna snap her out or anything, but bit banal yeah

"Oh, it musta been old... probably rusted." She recloses the lid.

"Oh.. wow... this school really is a death trap" May observes
