"Maybe i didn't say it clear enough, but just so it is clear: When you hit with taht cold wave, my thought was not 'how dare she not use lightning' , my thought was 'hey! My daughter nailed the bad guy!' and I was proud" Then a beat "also a bit worried, but that's par for the course I'm told"

"Well, SYLVI really got him."

Jaymes nods "Killing blow" He xplains to Tove, " Got him in the throat, slit his neck."

Tove looks at her food "No need to get graphic, is Sylvi ok?"

"She was kinda shaken up."

"I mean, I felt all wobbly after bug guy..."

"Even chimerical death can cause banality" Tove says

"She probably needs a momenmt by the balefire. I'm glad Olgar was with her, Kerri will be told and she needs to" Tove says concerned

Jaymes doesn't seem as phased "It was hard, but I think Sylvi will be okay. I will confess, all of the wilders showed a lot of fortitude. Symon wasn't part of the fight, but he was very brave and got Bythe out."

"Symon totally rescued her."

"He did?" Tove says "You know, that lad is..well, Anne Marie will worry retroactively, but he really is amazing"

"he's all right" Jaymes shrugs

"He's great. We're going to the Sadie Hawkins dance."

"You..are?" Jaymes says surprised.

"That's wonderful" Tove says "I'm glad he said yes. Mmm is there a particular way you wanted to dress up?"

"Ummmm.. I haven't figured that out yet. Could I wear pants?"

"Well, sure we can even get you a kind of suit if you like" Tove says without any judgment "There's all sorts of styles these days"

"So... you have a date?" Jaymes seems to slowly dawning to that

"Maybe! Maybe it could be one that'd work for the wedding too?"

"Nah, it's not a date. It's Symon. This way I can keep an eye on Nadeen."

"Oh, think she might cause trouble huh?" He nods "I think I get it."

Tove smiles at the wedding comment "if you like. I definitely need to talk colors over with you then. You'll be relieved no pink. If I recall you're not a fan of pink."

"I'll wear it if you love it. I guess. Like... a little bit."

"If I really had to have pink it woudl be like just on the neckwear or cuffs." She assures "But it's okay. I have other colors I like more."

"Cool." She nods, approving.

"So not a date," Jaymes repeats, though who he is driving that point home to might be hard to tell.

Tove gives him a look as if worried there might be smoke coming out of his ears in a moment

"Ew, no."

"Mmm" Jaymes starts eating again "Good. This gumbo is good."

Tove fights the urge to roll her eyes, "Glad you like it. And we can go over some ideas. Alternative outfits for dances come in a lot more variety than ever before. We can have a certain thing for this dance, then tweak it for the wedding without too much fuss."

"Saves money, too!"

"Dad, you want seconds?" She rises with her empty bowl and offers out a hand for his.

"Yeah, thanks" He hand her the bowl

"Tove?"

"No seconds for me" she says "Thank you." She eyes Twobit following Dagmar's heels

Dag nods, and heads for the kitchen.

Tove suspects there's a reason the dog is being so 'faithful' to the girl right now, but then looks at Jaymes "She is going to, one day I think."

"going to what?" he says

"Date." She replies "A long time off, but one day she's going to want to date."

both talking softly so someone in the kitchen won't hear it

Well, TwoBit is rewarded, as she carefully tries to avoid any okra in her second bowl.
