Kerri pauses, waiting for him to put the pieces together.... "And....do you understand why?"

"Well, I think maybe I hurt her feelings" Jaymes says, and yes, he sounds not entirely sure

"WOW" Siv catches it and almost drops it "Thought it was 'soft'" She grins though

Again, Kerri pauses. ".....Hurt her feelings because....?"

"You can't pitch soft! It's gotta be fast!"

"Kerri, I get the feeling you're trying to lead me somewhere," Jaymes says "I tried apologizing to her but she seems to want details on what i'm apologizing for. Do women ever say what they just want? Or is this some geasa on the gender I don't know about?"

"Got it, " Siv says and gives an underhanded pitch of her own with pretty good oomph

Kerri gives Jaymes a stare....and folds her arms. "We rather hope that the men in our lives will have enough braincells to realize that, first, they haven't quite figured out what they've done wrong yet, and second, that they could figure it out if they put all the pieces together in the right configuration."

A grumble from Jaymes "I guess I should have just said 'thank you for trying'? or maybe...'you'll get better' reassuring?" testing, is he close?

Dag easily snags the ball from the air - a kind of lazy gesture, like plucking an apple with her mitt. "So, like, maybe we could be on the same team?"

"Or..." Kerri suggests pointedly, "perhaps 'thank you for making food for us, Tove.' You do realize she was under no obligation to do so?"

Siv says "I don't know, I'm 16, would they have us on the same team?"

Jaymes says "of course I know that. I'm not sure why she did but it was nice of her. She's an amazing girl..woman, and I.. I do like her, maybe too much. I mean, I'm a grump,she's a wilder..."

Brekke, after a few quiet moments, shakes her head. "I am not sure. You mentioned Dougal and...and the notion got in my head. Hm."

Of course, she' s an older wilder and he's a younger grump but...

"I don't know?" A sigh. "It'd be nice."

"thanks, Dagmar" Siv actually looks pleased, "I like you too." And pats her glove

"That Bancroft might be Dougal?"

"Okay, so I need to aim... could you crouch?"

"Hold on, let me get the catcher mask" She does and puts it on then crouches

"Jeez, how much stuff does Vali have?"

"Are you kidding?" Siv says "He's got a storage shed of stuff from Louisiana"

"Jaymes...I can tell you that, if a person is still learning how to cook, it's unlikely that he or she will cook for somebody unliked. As for the age difference...the Chieftain became a Grump shortly after Frank arrived here, and that did not stop them from pursuing a relationship." Kerri sounds a bit impatient.

Brekke shakes her head. "No, merely that...we do not know." A pause. "Has he shown up since delivering the hat?"

"No." Firmly. "Not that I know of."

Jaymes considers, "I do like her. She's... she's a great lady. I mean, I'm not sure why she feels she needs to be a good cook. She sings beautifully, she carves wood. She knows old lore, and new songs too. She's sensual without being cheap, she's kind without being fragile. She's got so many positives i'm not sure I can keep up with the math and it's intim-" He clamps down realizing he was speaking too freely

A bemused grin from Kerri. "Intimate? Or intimidating?"

"Huh. I didn't know that." She aims... winds up... and another streak-of-fire pitch, albeit a bit high.

"The latter" Jaymes says.

"Bit high" Siv leaps nimbly to catch it.

"Oh, yeah," Siv continues "We should root around in it sometime. He's got a lot of stuff that's too young for US now, but other stuff from his adventures. "

"Not fair. I want to go on an adventure." Too low - the ball literally drives a furrow into the dirt.

Siv leaps for it and misses... "Okay, too much the other way. ANd I think you had an adventure. Remember, monsters are after you? "

"Jaymes...cooking for another person is a great gift. It is, in a sense, giving life, giving sustenance. It's a sign of caring, and it's a gesture that can be shared. And all those things you just listed? That list is a sign that, if you don't see whether your relationship with her can become something even more, you will always wonder what might have happened if you had tried. And...you didn't set the timer."

The baking scent from the oven is beginning to smell like a bit of a burning scent.

"Uhg. I don't think some bugs count. And a lot of them, other people fought."

"AH!" Jaymes races to the oven and grabs a mit and tries to pull it out

Brekke nods to Frank. "It is probably not something to be concerned about...but I will ask Kealan for more information."

Siv says "What, you don't want to share?" She clears some dirt off, and then throws underhanded back

The batter is a darker brown than it ought to be, as are some of the berries, and the berry juice has begun to bubble over the sides.

"Thank you." He rests his hand on hers.

"Kerri, are you just giving me advice I need ,or have you gone full karmic facilitator on me?" Jaymes asks wryly

Catch. "It's not that... but it's not.. it's not an adventure."

"Hmm?" Kerri shrugs. "I told you how long to let it bake. Did I need to tell you that a timer would be a helpful thing to use to measure...time?"

"Tis a saga about you, Dagmar, unfolding, but I can guess you'd rather seek one out than have it seek you . Not sure any of us get that choice but I can understand the preference. you never did answer though, you want to sort thorugh some of Vali's stuff with me?"

"Sure!" Another high one, but FAST.

Jaymes grumphs, "So the answer to my questions was yes I'm starting to think." A sigh "I didn't mean to hurt her, Kerri. I just...I don't have the strength to send her away to somene better, and I don't have the guts to pull her in. I... am not good with people."

"WoW" Siv Catches it "Wow, my arm is jarred. I felt that through the glove!"She smiles "Come on. I'll show you"

"Cool." She trots over to Siv.

Kerri is wearing a very nostalgic grin. "Don't push her...and don't pull her. Share what you can with her, and appreciate what she shares with you. That will go a long way. And I think the two of you may get to a point where you might reach...an understanding of sorts. Now, turn off the oven, and let the pan cool on the rack for now."
