Then a look to Dagmar, "You should ask Symon what he got his dad when you see him. Odd duck that he is, I'm honestly curious"

"I dunno if he goes for gifts, much."

"Well, maybe" Unsure "Worth nosing about if you don't think it'd offend him."

....brush, brush, brush....

"Siv...did you all celebrate Midsummer Night when you were in the Dreaming?"

"Midsummer?"

"I remember we celebrated some holidays, you can't get away from them... there are islands that are seemingly dedicated to some.... ware the Isle with the great statues of the Sow and Hen, for the mists there never really lift" A slightly creepy voice, is she joking about that one? maybe. Maybe not, but she continues in a normal voice "but details are forgotten for a lot of it . That's why I'm so excited for every holiday this side of things."

Sylvi grins at both of them. "Oh, okay. So, first Midsummer for both of you. Cool. It'll happen this Thursday, the 21st. It's like a big campfire cookout, and then storytelling and songs and stuff, and everybody tries to stay up all night."

"Ok... so like Beltaine, a bit?"

"Kind of, yeah, but not so many games. And...well, Beltaine, people stay up late because they can...but if you fall asleep on Midsummer Eve, you get pranked."

Curious look at Sylvi, "Pranked? Oh no wonder you're looking forward to this."

She scowls. "They better not."

"Every...Single...Year...I wake up the next morning and my face is all covered with moons and stars and flowers and stuff. Which is fun and all, but I'm for real going to stay awake longer than Dad this year."

A snerk, "You dad .. your dad doodles on your face?"

"Oh, it's not mean pranks, Dagmar. Just silly things. At least...well, they've always been silly things with me. Of course, this is my first Midsummer as a wilder."

"I can't prove it's him...but he always has something to say about it, too."

A smile. "Mom dozed off early one year, and somebody made like a cat's cradle between her horns with yarn." An innocent look.

real laughter escapes, "I'm sorry, but I can't help but imagine what you must look like... all mussy headed and then with a face full of stars and moons like a deranged astrologer's leavings."

She harrumphs. "Well. I'll stay up then."

Sylvi rolls her eyes and smiles. "Every. Year. But not this year. I'm staying up!"

"I like the cat's craddle between the horns. Wait, is this parents and their kids only pranking anyone or do we have to watch out for everyone?"

"Well...anybody who spends Midsummer here at the Lodge is fair game and a likely culprit. Why?"

"Great, now I have to stay up."

"Yup!" Sylvi smiles. "Make it to dawn, and you're safe."

She looks to Dagmar. "We are going to be toast for the last day of school. At least tests will be all over."

Siv sighs a bit enviously at mention of their last day at school

(I thought school was over?)

(Nope, 22nd.)

"Could just skip it."

"Why?"

"Exactly. If nothing happens - and nothing ever does - why go?"

"Surely you learn something?"

"Not on the last day."

"Grades are in, tests are done. It's a bullshit day."

"Oh, last day is more like a celebration, like a big yay-we-made-it. But...wait, Dagmar, you're moving up with me, right? You're getting out of 8th grade?"

"Cuz we've got the moving up ceremony, too. That'll be earlier on Thursday."

"Seven, I think. Gotta check with Mom, she has all the paperwork and stuff."

"See, the DeBukes and other homeschoolers are fine, but I really would love the public school experience." Envious

"Ew. Why?"

"School sucks."

"I don't care about any dumb ceremony."

"You folks get to live the stuff I only see on TV" SHe says

"Yeah, but it's really not like it is on TV."

A concerned look at Dagmar.

"Wise Mister Feeney passing on life lessons, Mister Kotter returns to the neighborhood..welcome back sir, and murders at Riverdale"

"Well, the last one is kind of close," she admits.

"See!"

"It's mostly just... trying to get through without much trouble, right?"

"I could get by" She insists
