"The only rule is you have to be the first through the course?"

"Without interfering with other runners, yes."

"And with a torch" Siv says, pretty sure that's part of it

"You do not win unless you bring the lit torch through the race and back to light the bonfire." Kerri confirms, a little bemused at the rules lawyering. "Now, here we go...wait until I give the go after you're all lit." And she brings a lit pillar candle over and carefully lights each torch. It takes a few minutes for them to get burning well.

Kelly seems to be mulling over the trajectory of something, then shakes his head. Darn it. He positions.

Zane is already to go

Siv takes her position.

He looks disappointed for a moment, and shakes his head. Though, he does murmurs to Dagmar a piece of advice. "If it's a true maze, you can stick to one side, and always make left turns. Otherwise it can fuddle your head to remember which way is which. Slower than usual, though. "

Sylvi's ready.

Leta took hers, lining up near Sylvi

Is Colton running?

He's going to try yes

She shakes her head, declining the torch.

As Olgar returns, a last warning from Kerri. "Remember, it's a wooded path. There will be roots and branches. We'll heal up any injuries, but don't be foolhardy. Ready? SET....Go!"

A murmurs to Dagmar. "In a city, or a dungeon, maybe I could sneak past. But I know what I can do, and I'm no runner." A pause. "Spiderman could swing through the trees. But Wolverine might track faster. Quicksilver might be first through, if he didn't break a leg on a tree root."

Zane zips off, satyr speed showing a vanishing torch already. Leta keeps up with him for a bit but... loses the path for a moment then "Darn it"

"Quicksilver has the best reflexes, didn't you see the movie?"

Colton gives chase, smiles at Sylvi running through the night and how the light plays against her skin and eyes...and trips over a rock. At least he doesn't drop the torch.

"The one with the time-travel?"

Zane is OFF like a shot, the others following....and their torches disappear into the gathering night of the woods.

Laughter in the woods

Sylvi hears the thud of somebody falling and pauses a moment to check that he or she is okay.

"I'm okay, go on.." Colton gets up

He doesn't need to tell her twice...she's running as fast as she can.

Kelly again considers turning into a bird, then hears the hoot of an owl, "Wow, the hearth is STRICT"

He thinks for a moment. "Flash turned back time by running fast once, but I don't know if Quicksilver did. He was just fast."

"Flash has the Speed Force, but I think Quicksilver also manipulates time moreso than just goes quick... like... in the movie, it's like everything else around him froze, you know?"

"So from the outside it looks like he's faster, but from his perspective everything else is just really, really slow..."

He blinks, and gives her a flash of greyish grin. "You might be nerdier than I am." This, oddly, a compliment.

She smiles back - possibly the happiest she's looked in hours.

Marsha mutters something to Kerri

A few close calls send Sylvi stumbling, and her face and hands get pretty scratched up with stray branches....

Leaning in closer so that only Dagmar should be able to hear. "Without those rules, I'd sneak through and draw shadows - if you can't see where the path is, you might just go in circles, while I walked out the winner." A pause. "But then again, someone might just thunk me upside the head then. If I wasn't hidden well enough." Perhaps the rules have a place after all.

Kerri and Marsha murmur together while the race is out of sight.

Siv woops and hollers, even if she's not winning she is having fun

"Yeah. Rules keep it fair..."

"I mean, for a game instead of for real. For real, I bet you'd outsneak them."

"Or maybe if it was riddles." He nods. "I'm not bad at that."

And lights appear as they start circling back

"I could see that, sure. I'm not smart enough for riddles."

"You're smart enough to know when it's not worth it." He nods towards the sounds of bumbling in the woods. "Didn't feel like getting 'rescued' ten minutes after the race was won."

"Here they come!" Kerri calls.

"Pretty much, yeah."

"That'd be humiliating."

"Streetsmart is a thing too." A shrug as he leans to peer at who seems to be in front.

Zane has a strong lead, and while he has a few leaves in his hair, a triumphant grin reflects his torch's light

"Even if Dirk thinks it means, "He knows what street he lives on." A snicker.

"Way to go, son!" Professor Wayburton says "Spiro lives indeed"

The crowd starts cheering and applauding.

A soft snort. "Dirk"
