Yup, that's the key scene. It's a good movie...and some clever subtext around Martin Landau's character.

I think if I had to trot out 'fancy classic dramas that prove I may have taste' I might have to say I really liked 12 Angry Men a lot more than I thought. One room, a group of actors, and I was actually caught up in what I might normally be bored by.

12 Angry Men is an amazing movie, though

12 Angry Men is spectacular, and I often wish I could teach a class on film analysis so I could show it and talk about it.

I really, really do, but with a caveat -- his stuff was written in the 80s, so it's full of stuff that's not politically correct in the slightest. That said, look for Drowned Hopes. That's the first one of his I read.

I'm a big fan of Elmore Leonard, too

His books have a cast of recurring characters, so each one sometimes references events outside of its unique narrative, but not to the point where it impacts the enjoyment of the story.
