I am a SLP major. Speech and hearing, and I have been learning some interesting things about gendered writing, and how males and females speak. I thought it might help me with playing male characters better. So warning. Nerd to the fifth power post coming up?

So its been found that women use the more 'standard' forms of English. Even in places like the south where accents and dialects come into play. Like they well say 'fishing' where males will use "fish'in."

In writing and speaking. Males are more direct. Because that is what is expected in our culture, where females are indirect. Males are also known to lack "empty" adjectives in both their speech and writing where females love to use them.

Empty adjectives being what?
