TThe girl says seeming to realize her name was asked

He whispers to her. "It's rough. But we need some good karma, miss Perkins. We'll get you to a room."

"Idon't understand but thanks."

Vali gets the info

and... a pick up pulls up with a nocker in it

Backpack digging... Maggie gets a ziplock full of regular-old Tove cookies.

"I got family that... that struggles too. Just sleep safe tonight, and the place will be open in the morning -okay?"

Leaning to the driver's window. "Please see Miss Perkins to the hotel over..." giving the address.

And he passes on... with slight reluctance, the scarab, and a $20 peeled from Vali's cash.

"Thanks... and, okay"

The nocker takes the scarab "Thanks" And the twenty "Double thanks"

And.. soon, Maggi is off to a better place

He looks to Dagmar after the cab is out of sight. "You okay? Something got to you there. Sorry."

Frown. "Sorry."

"Sorry. I just... it.. I didn't want her going with him."

"It's okay." And he means it.

"Liam are good with people. Okay. How far is this club?" Chin set, she's resolved. Mission!

"Should be just this way." He checks again and they continue...

"Cool."

"So, I know you're gonna be sneaky. Figure I could be a distraction?"

THey move on for a bit... making their way

"That sounds cool. Any help is always good."

"You can be conspicuous to help me be in-conspicuous."

"Exactly."

"Big shiny paladin."

"Probably out of place there, y'know?"

"I get it! I feel that way a lot - your turn." A smirk.

Snort.

"Course, prodigals won't see the blue. Can't have everything."

As they approach the club they see it is out of the way, shadowed, but has all the creepy signs of Voodoo ..little hanging bags.. odd symbols. Maybe a bit hollywood about it

And.. as they walk by an alley .. there's a scent of decomposure

"They'll see the bat." Grinning at the handle sticking out of her backpack.

He stops, sniffing the air. He KNOWS that smell.

Putrid Corpse. It smells like Putrid corpse

"Can you watch the alley entrance?" He whispers to Dagmar - checking a glance down there before starting a slink.

"Uh-huh."

She stands guard, trying to look casual.

Symon notices ... there's a .. he.. something SHOULD be there.. .but it's not. A smell without a body? His sluagh senses feel like someone's pulling his head to the left every time he tries to look straight

He doesn't like that. An attempt to peer forward even as his head tilts obligingly in the left direction, out of the corner of his eyes.

"You a stubborn one, man" A Jamacian accent

"I learned from the best." He responds, trying to place the voice with a location.

Damn hard.. he can't seem to this is not a matter of senses, it's a matter of mind! Like veiled. Slaugh can see through that with effort.

"You look too hard, rules say I gotta kill you.. so stop, okay man? I've been mellow tonight, don't want to break it"

Suddenly, as that threat is made, Dagmar seems to find new focus, as if she heard it even past the illusion. HER charge? threatened?

She bristles, and puts a hand on the bat.

He stops, and just looks down at the ground. "Wouldn't want to make you break the rules. Just wondering, who bit it down here?"

"Wow, two of ... holy shit.. you two crazy, or on the drug? not that Judge others by twhat they take in..." Suddenly the figure is backing off

And backing off breaks whatever magic he was doing.
