"I can promise something mammalian by tomorrow night as we work things out. Understand we'll be trying to spring the boss, and that's a negotiation process." William whispers.

"I hear you... " A hrumph "But you realize I can't go without forever"

" something mammalian, tomorrow?"

He offers again.

"Fine fine... yes sorry." the voice says. Odd, there's no breathing between comments

William not, and drags the ransom items forward." I will return."

And CC and he get out to the surface. It's dark by now, not the best discovery ggiven what they probably talked to.

"Prodigal?" She mutters "Child of lilith?"

He shakes his head; later. "Here, take the keys.... no, safety in numbers. If we are attacked, drop the loot and run, to the car if possible." he drags the bag as best he can with his pant pockets full of gold; a cold sweat dapples his brow.

CC muttters "I can veil us again, but it will get draining"

"Just go." he encourages her ahead of him to the car.

And once there he piles the treasure into the backseat. The painting might get a bit more care as it is fragile. Then he slings himself into the driver's seat and keys the ignition.

And they move, just as they hear "hey, free food..." and see glowingg red dots in the shadows. It is NOT the same voice they heard before.

"Gun it" CC tells him

And he DOES. "Glove compartment! Won't kill them but aim well and slow them down!"

Son of a bitch, he has a gun in there; loaded.

She pulls out the gun, opens the window, and fires

As William provides a moving target; not only accelerating but slewing madly around the road left and right.

The shot's placement is good, she strikes through the leg, not enough to endanger a vampire but yes, it's got a limp

"Damn vamps" She fusses

And William's driving loses them.

"You can drive" She says admiringly to him now that they are in the clear

"Hmmph. A required skill." he whispers grimly.

"Wow, been a while since I used one of these" She wipes her finger prints from the gun as if old habit, and then puts it back into the glove department

"I would not have been able to tell." he says in a soft rasp "Excellent shooting."

"I wanted to get him in the head but with all the swerving, leg was a bigger target," She does not look displeased at the praise. "Like riding a bike."

"We may need a bolthole ourselves; I would not lead anyone back to the house or Club. What do you think?"

"The hotel?"

He nods. "I still have access to my room there." And that's where he takes them.

She looks around as they enter "Well well... should we order room service? A nice stake... S-T-A-K-E that is?"

That forces a dry laugh from him as he parks the overladen luggage cart in the foyer space. "Yes, please do. I am a bit peckish. Get a bottle or two of something celebratory!"

She makes the call and quickly

William wipes his face with a napkin and goes about unpacking the loot.

"Be here in the hour" she smiles then notices him sweating as he works "Honey ttake it slow . I don't want you having a heart attack"

"Quite a bit of exersion, not to mention facing a leech.... and the connection between the sluagh and the vampire is not a little concerning. If the sluagh has his friends in other boltholes......"

"I hear you, we may wannt to stock up on holy water and squirt guns" A smile "Still, exciting yes?"

He chuckles. "Oh yes, yes indeed."

"I will need some sacrifice to drop down the manhole tomorrow. Can you think of a way to sabotage it?"

"You, poison the blood?" She asks

"Do you mean that I should poison the blood of a sacrifice or I should -be- a poison-blood sacrifice?" with an eyebrow as the last of the loot is laid out.

"The former , of course. You said 'sabatage' so it sounded like we were double crossing the vamp. Now I am not against that if you think it's needed"

"Of course." with easy matter-of-factness "I want full access to the bolthole and we have daylight on our side. We will start earlier another time."

He surveys the gold. "Well, aside from the issue of converting gold to dollars.... I would say we're out of the red for a bit."

"I can drop a pigle down there, one drugged heavily to make the toughest vamp drrowsy, with a veil over the drug itself so the vampire iggnores the slugggishness"

"Hmmm...."

"I can create that sort of compound." he admits "You veil it, we drug the pig and drop it in close to sundown? Another drive like that.... there was no small luck involved, Dearest, and the others there will be piqued that we put a hole in them."

"True, and they have their own maggic, or 'Dark gifts' as that lestat writer would put it"

He nods. "Where do we get the pig? It will need to be small."

"The DeBukes, of course. They'll be confused, but they knonw a pig dealer"

He chuckles. "I thought as much. Yes, that will do. If you like, tell them I am making you a special dinner."
