Vali keeps working the dishes as he talks

She shrugs. "I'm saying I think there's a better fit."

"Who? " he asks curious

"Well I don't know -yet-!" she exclaims "I just met the girl."

"Then how do you know you're not the best fit?" He points out

"Well, sounds like getting to know her better is best" Gerd says kind of agreeing with both of them

"From what I know -now- I think there's a better fit out there somewhere, but yes, new information might change that opinion."

"I'm more worried about the boy" Gerd says "Rodolfo? His leg has been tended to, but the crowds are making him frantic. Some centaurs don't handle them well"

"he's a skittish kid" Vali says sympatheticly

OOC Fawn's the centaur, right?

(Yup. Centaur Grump. Former Nurse. Knows Native lingo)

"Is Fawn around?"

"No she was sent on that mission for your Duke"

"They aren't back?"

"Have they checked in?"

Vali says "Latest report was that the flooding was worse there... whole area has a impromptu river flowing through it. "

Jess frowns. "I should go out there." She stands, heading for the door.

"Jessica, you wouldn't likely find them once you got there. It's not as big as your city, but it's still not small. Also, if I may?" Vali says "I'm able to tattle tale. Want me to scry on them?"

"Would you?" she pauses at the door, still looking as though she'll head out anyway, but....

"Yes" He says "I want to help" he reminds "Heck, I can do it here" He runs water over a plate "WHich do you want me to scry on in particular? Fawn? Phobos? I've met most of them at least once"

he stirs the waters as he works

"Fawn? If she's not busy maybe I can get word to her to come back for Rodolfo."

He casts... and in the dishwater, she can see Fawn doing a triage, helping tend injuries one by one with the help of some local women. The centauress helps those who have nearly drowned, or been hit by debris.

"She herself isn't hurt though. That's a good sign" Vali notices

"Yeah. But I can't ask her to come away just yet. I know he's uncomfortable but these people are -hurt-." She sighs. "Ok, I need to do this walk around. You guys make yourselves at home and if you need anything let me know."

"We weren't here for a vacation, your excellency. We're here to help" Gerd says as she's cooking "Sure you don't want one of us to go with you? Vali will be happy to escape the dishes"

"This is true" Vali smiles

"I mean... yeah, if you want to come." she heads out to walk through the freehold, checking in with people.

Skeleton crew on guard... others are resting or out.

She check in on all the childlings, too. Just in case; sticks her head in, says hi.

Looks like a huge sleep over in there

Not to distrub it; she just smile, nods to them, and moves along.

Vali was quiet and he follows

"So this walk around ... standard?"

"Sure. I mean, it's a little different with the storm and all but... yeah. Mom does it too."

A slow nod "Lead on. Hold itself seems steady"

"Why do you ask?"

She leads on.

"Because you just got up, had a snack, and are off again when you found out there was little you could do for the folks on the other side of the Duchy" he answers honestly "I guess our Kith doesn't take doing nothing well. " A shrug "Even when we can't help. Seems to be... part of our nature"

"That's part of it." she continues her walkaround.

Looks busy within just about every room. She sees nancy on the phone "Yeah, we're lucking out compared to a lot of areas, Baron Tidemarch."

She pauses, watching and listening.

"Too dangerous for most of your ships to assist... I'll pass it on. But nice that you've taken in so many selkies"

A nod "The Countess will be told. And yes, glad you like the spare food."

Jess glances at Vali; she needs this report.

Vali holds still and nods. He won't get in the way of her spying if that's what she wants to do

Not so much spying as waiting for a report.

Nancy nods some more "Really? That's serious. I'll definitely let he know at once. Thank you Baron I'm sure you're very busy." And the call ends she turns around and nearly jumps out of her skin when she sees two trolls

"Sorry!" Jess apologies "I was doing a walkaround and...."

"Okay okay, it's just when a troll sneaks up on you, it looks like... what's the word?" She says
