The homeless in the under bridge area here were in danger of being washed away. Evacuating them would be called for. By freezing the water, Vali has brought them time if Jessica can coax them out

"Oye...!" Jess calls in Spanish "The water is rising; come out, come with me. I'll get you to a shelter."

They call out their thanks as she helps those with trouble walking, and gets them to a shelter. Fortunately Father V and his congregation are good hearted people who do not neglect the sons of adam

"You need anything, Father?" she asks quietly.

"Oh you've given us so much to work with. We are well, Jessica. As well as can be expected" he says

"Ok, but if you -do- need anything, let me know."

"We will. Diego is a rascal, but he's been dedicated" Father V assures

Jess sighs. "After this, we all need a fiesta. A break, a celebration."

Vali smiles "Sounds like a plan"

She nods, and they patrol on.

There's a griffin on a roof "Is this rain going to stop?" It asks "The cat part of me.. well, I hate this"

Jess pauses, nonplussed. "Um. Yes, eventually."

"I mean... rain stops, right?"

"Are you in distress?"

"World record is 40 days and 40 nights... except Wales, which considers that their best summer on record" Vali observes somberly

"Well, my feathers are VERY wet. And I do not like the feel on my paws" the Griffin says "I find THAT distressing"

"Do you need aid?" she asks politely.

The Griffin thinks about it then says "No, I suppose I'm better off than the firemare at that stable near your hold"

And he moves after! He's in good shape, though he maybe feeling those grump years as the younger jogger books!

Jess heads straight back to Fenix.

The stable , such as it is, is off to the side and it is understandable that not everyone pays attention to it when there's no need for it. Cynder rarely complains as long as she gets some free time. However great pools of water have her trapped, and her colt. Those waters are not DEEP but it's not good that the pool is edging in

"SHIT." Jess goes about helping Cynder.

"This is MORTIFYING" Cynder says "My heat can steam some it away but I can't burn it all and it just spreads..."

"Want me to freeze the water? It'll be slippery but it'll stop" Vali offers

"Can you and the boy wade through?"

"it will hurt a bit. I'd rather spare my son the pain" she says

"I can be brave, mama" Ember says

Jess eyes them; can she carry Ember?

Yes... yes she can. The horses obviously can control their heat or she couldn't ride them

"Okay" He says "But the ice man should try to keep the water solid so it will be easier on my mom"

"We're not made entirely of fire dear. I'll be fine" Cynder says amused

Jess nods to Vali and lifts Ember into her arms.

Vali cools the water until it is a patch of broken ice. It'll have more traction "There we go. After you, Cynder"

'Thank you, sir" She trots over

Jess carefully carries Ember along.

The DREAM of the water more than the reality is what threatens to sap the fyremare. But she hides any discomfort for the sake of her son who is watching

They are soon across. Cynder advises "If we can sand bag about the stable it should keep the water out with help? "
