"Not our place, Tig" Lut says

Jess nods. "I'm sure they can handle it, or know that they can't."

"Ah you guys used to be more fun" A beat "no ... you were both always boring" Tig winks

Jess frowns."You used to be less of a jerk. I guess we all change."

Tig touches his chest "ouch"

Lut says "He's not really that bad, Jessica. Just a lot on his mind"

Tig says "Nope. Sorry, I was out of line there. I do have a lot on my mind but clearly that weak attempt at humor fell flat. " Then "I am a bit distracted. Sorry. Should focus on the here and now"

"Want to tell me about it?" she offers.

"Well, I've been put in charge of showing the new comers, two deBukes and so on, the ropes as thane work and such. I mean, I wasn't really going anywhere in Rivervale...love it, but sometimes even 'I' forgot I was there. Talked to the Chief about it... and got a task I enjoyed on top of it. Extra responsiblity right? Trolls eat that up. I did. But we've hit the area where the two I've trained are done for the year. Not sure they're coming back and they learned months ago. So.. antsy. On top of it I'm.. dating this girl.... it's kind of a frenemy thing gone weird. Been really laid back, casual... it's a GOOD thing, right?" Ahem and he blushes 'only sometimes I wonder if she'd be ...interested in .. I don't know... more than netflix, chill and ..so on" The so on discrete "But pretty sure if I push she'll bolt"

"It's... distracting" he admits

"Oh. Um. Yeah."

"I'm not really a good person to give advice on that kind of thing. But as far as life at Rivervale and all, have you thought about... .I don' t know, a walkabout kind of thing? Like the DeBukes do, now?"

"mmm in a way, that is one of the reasons for this quest. " Tig says "get out, kick the boots into gear"

Jess nods. "Makes sense."

Phobos calls out "Duke's HERALD IS HERE" his voice booms

"Oh crap.... excuse me, guys." She goes to meet the visitor.

The Herald is an Eshu, and he is DRENCHED

"Let's get some towels here, and a warm drink!" she calls as she approaches "Herald, welcome."

He coughs and bows dripping. "The Duke has a request for any aid you can lend. Other parts of the Duchy are flooding"

"Of course." She herself puts a towel over the guy's shoulders "What is our area to work in?"

He wipes up "The Duke understands you must protect your own holdings... he asks for five volunteers to head towards Santa Rosalia ..I'll lead them" He says "I have a scroll you'll want to see so you know I'm on the level, your ladyship" he pulls out a..somewhat drenched parchment but it does have the Duke's seal

"Need a volunteer or two?" Tig's voice says "Lut and I are game"

"If you want, guys, sure." she takes the scroll and scans it.

Smeared a bit, but looks legit. The Duke also informs here that all of Tijuna may get a BUTT load of new Refugees if it weathers the storm better than some

She nods. "Ok. So Lut and Tig... What's the mission, Herald?"

"Sandbagging areas, and getting children out of the way. Our seers tell us it will be hurt badly."

"We're happy to help" Lut assures the herald

"Dame Ash, then, and Fawn or Nancy and Phobos, you or your brother?"

"Both of us are in" Tig assures "So there's two"

Dame Ash is called for and Fawn with her...both grumps come out

Jess explains the situation "I thought Dame Ash would be a good choice, and Fawn or Nancy and Fawn, you're right here so....."

"Well that's four" Fawn says "I want to get my medical kit though"

"Five" Sir Phobos says "I am ready when she is"

"Ok, there we go. Lut, Tig, this is...." and she makes introductions.

The Eshu greets them "Herald Olyan ... this way, please. By the trods"

"Check in with me every once in a while, ok?" as they are going.

"Cells will liikely be down" The herald warns

"Do what you can, and stay safe."

"You too, Jessica" Tig says

She nods.

"Yeah, but we know you got this on yoru end" Lut nods

Ash says "Ellie may have nightmares...if she does, remind her what I said about breathing or crayons"

"I will." Jess promises.

And off they go...

Thane Captain Coy watches them go, saying "They're a good team. They'll help a lot of people. Not my place but... want me to call the Family for back up?"

"I'm not sure adding more bodies would help; more than likely just put them in danger."

"Oh, the wilders at least will go.. it's what DeBukes do. Every hurricane or major flood they decide to go help. It's how we find new kinain sometimes. The question is, do you want it in this Duchy or Pacifica?"

"Hm. Pacifica; they'll have more time to prepare. We're already in the midsts of it."

(The Herald already headed off with the other five volunteers as their guide)
