"It will be" Ariel says proudly

Then she explains "He's a great story teller, he even does the voices for us. Course, Salma will make him do the voices if he didn't. She's got high standards. Ellie is so nice you don't have to do the voices for her but she appreciates them"

"Why he even tells stories about you, Miss Jessica!" She adds

"He.... does?"

"Course he does. You're a heroine" She puts her little hands on her hips "Don't you know that?"

"I... wouldn't call myself a hero." Jess mumbles.

"But I can't seem to stop anyone else from doing it so....."

"Well you're the one who doesnt see itt that way" Ariel says "maybe you have a fever? Bend down, I'll check y our temperature" She seems most earnest

Diego, politely turns his head from Jessica so his grin at this doesn't show

Jessica sighs and bends down. "I don't have a fever, Ariel." patiently.

She checks the temp "Well, you don't seem to, but you still might want to talk to Mister Fontaine about this. You not realizing what a hero you doesn't sound healthy" A firm nod "Thank you for letting me check your temp"

"You're welcome." she straightens "Thank you for checking on me."

"You're welcome too" She says "Oh, I should go tell the others" Ands she races off "my cousin caspian is heeerrree"

Diego watchesh her race off, then looks back at Jessica, his smile cracking just a bit still

Jess sports a small smile, herself.

"Good thing we have childlings to explain these things to us, mmM?"

She chuckles. "Yes. It ... certainly can seem simpler. More direct, more clear. At that age." Just a touch wistfully?

"The answers are simple, there is right and wrong, and you never have to compromise beyond sharing a toy or game"

Jessica nods, a touch sadly.

"Ah well, may their innocence turn to well won idealism in their wilder years, and may those years be off a while yet"

"Hear hear." Jessica toasts sans beverage.

And it is returned.

Demos can be seen, heading out

Anything unusual about that?

Probably going on patrol

Of course, he is going alone. While there's no rule to taking back up, it's been talked about

If anyone -could- go alone, it would be a redcap.... Jess thinks a moment, then says "Excuse me, Diego...." and wanders over in the direction Demos was headed.

She follows, and Demos turns, "Something up?"

"Um. No. You going on patrol?"

"Yeah, you want to come with you can" He shrugs

"Oh, um... sure." she has her maul with her from the trip with Apolonio so she is ready to go.... and go she does.

They move on for a bit, Demos has always been the less ... nice of the brothers in some ways. He is a modernest too and has little respect for titles, but he sticks around and does his part and then some. They travel through the streets and not just the safe areas

There's a mortal man at one alleyway who is selling no doubt stolen goods. When he sees Demos, he pales, turns, and tries to run. Demos gives chase, a quicksilver making it no contest

Jess plays back up; not getting TOO involved, because Demos can handle his own business, but there if there's something she can do.

And he catches the man "Lil' Pedro! WHere's my CUT?" Demos demands

"Oh come on, man!" the guy says

"You rob from this area, you take your risks but you also pay a share Lil Pedro. Community fund"

(Pause)

Rather than add focus to the conversation Demos is having, she watches for others that might be watching them. Keeping the exits open, looking for secondary threats.

A good eye . She sees another figure, a mortal drawing a gun slowly

"Gun." she says in a low but pointed voice, and starts towards him to confront him. She doesn't have a ranged weapon at her disposal....

the gun of the second human fires at Demos but, warned, Demos twists and puts the first human in front of him as a living shield!

And the gunman curses as he nearly hits that guy instead

Jessica keeps it simple, going for a straight upper cut or, failing that opportunity, a tackle.

A punch and the would be gun man goes sprawling, weapon from his hand

Jessica glances around, and back at Demos.

"Lil P, was this a hit on me?" Demos snarls at the fence

Jessica nudges the gun away, under something, and drags the gunman over to Demos.
