Salma reddens a little at some thought, and pokes at her cake.

"I think Dame Bevera probably knows LOTS of stories."

"And Neema's music is fun to dance to."

"Eleanor, did you have a favorite?"

"Other than Ariel?"

"And Piper..." Huff.

"Mm."

"Neema is fun to dance to."

Ariel puffs up

"I liked phobe's scary songs" Ahpuch says

"Bevera was also very good, and a knight - so she could be a bard, but also provide a sword if needed."

A faint quirk to her lips. "Not all knights are highly skilled in combat arts."

"Oh, but she's a Gwydion."

"she could hit them with a lute like El Kabong with a guitar" the sluagh whispers

"Not saying she's -not- skilled, just making that point."

"Well... what do you want most from your troubadour?"

Salma looks thoughtful at this.

"That's the quandary, Ellie. What I want from the troubadour depends on the situation. I might need a calming note of music on one occasion, and a thrilling call to arms the next."

"I suppose the answer is 'Versatility.'"

Ellie nods.

"Well, we trust you, Chief Jessica. Chief Clem says you've got a pretty good head on your shoulders even if you do have a thing for rafters" Ariel says supportively

"Of the ones competing, I think Bevera and Phoebe have the most range in mood."

"Dean is lovely, but... limited." Regretful.

"Elias is a great deal of fun, and I like all his instruments - but I also don't think he'll have trouble finding a patron."

"Neema is also a lot of fun, and fun to dance to, but I don't know if she has the range you want... I bet she could do sad songs, though. Or.. if you has Neema and Phoebe, why, you'd have sad and scary and pretty and happy..."

Jessica nods with understanding, following the logic.

Vaeltilde says "As Countess, more than one troubadour serving you would be considered quite typical"

Ellie nods. "Absolutely."

"I'd volunteer to be your second Troubadour around here," Ariel says to Jessica but then jerks a thumb to Ellie , Salma, and the boys "But I got a gig"

Clearly she has been listening to Troubadour jargon

"I understand." Jessica says to Ariel, seriously.

"Thank you for your input, all."

"Now, when it comes to prizes, if the best childling troubadour were to get the tres leches cake..."

"Then she could share it with her friends" Ariel finishes

Wide eyed nodding.

Jessica chuckles; although reserved, she does seem more relaxed with the kids. "I think that should happen, yes."

"I know you'll make wonderful choices, Countess!"

Ariel beams

"We should have contests more often so that they can all visit." Salma comments, which has nothing to do with the cake icing she is carefully wiping from the plate.

"Oh, and we could hire them for parties!"

"Or invite them to put out hats..."

Jessica nods. "Good ideas."

"Baroness Adrian said musickers will almost always work for food and lodging.."

"Or give them your recommendation so that if they go to another place, they can say, 'Look, I am a stranger, but Condesa Flame free said I am good, so please give me a chance."

"I'd thought it might be a good idea to have part of the job be visiting other 'Holds.... and elsewhere." Jess agrees.

"And sing songs that tell of you, or send message of what you value!"

Ariel gets a thought then "I volunteer to visit Rivervale with Ellie and Salma like a good troubadour" A smile!

"Ohhh..." A smile, too!

Salma claps at Ariel's cleverness.

"Oh, Condesa. First we are to visit the Farm, si? And they will send visitors here?"
