"The baron and I are no longer connected. As he drifted into wilderhood, he began to presume certain matters were in a troubadour's purview. I did not take his view on matters well. He did not take the lute over his head well either."

"Did he have cooties?"

"NOBODY has more cooties than a teenaged boy."

"Milady, it appeared to be his goal to be the west coast distributor of cooties" The Gwydion sniffs

"Gross." She agrees.

"Hmmph."

"Yes, well, we falcons don't put up with such leonesque hubris." Proud

"Do you fight, too?"

"Ah, I should mention... there's a tattoo parlor....." she pauses. "Um."

"I am average for my House, which means I'm excellent at arms" The Troubadour Bevera says then blinks "A tatoo parlor? Why would I... pardon I am at a loss"

"To speak to Mister Duff, since Countess Jessica won't say what her favorite music is."

"Does this not smack of..well, unfair advantage to gain this? I would prefer to earn my victory fairly"

"Well, if everyone else is asking..."

A deep sigh. "No. That is, it's not unfair. The other Troubadour applicants are also going. Ellie, I'm sorry to ask, could you run and tell Dean?"

He thanks Ellie on paper then bows to her. Dean then heads off

"Um." Jess sighs. "Well, welcome to Renaissance, Dame."

Ellie returns, merrily.

Bevera says "it's my pleasure, and an honor to play for the Daughter of one of the house legends...who became quite the heroine herself."

The heroine herself looks uncomfortable. "Thank you."

"Ah, I see you share your mother's distaste for flattery. I shall try to coax any praise of you with some humility."

A tilt of her head. "You know my mother?"

"I have seen your mother rather" She says " I had the honor of seeing her at a pennons. She was the soul of modesty." A pause "I do recall her Horse pranced a great deal. Magnificent animal . Worthy of serving a falcon.,"

"Was this recently?"

"2019" She says

"I was just glad to see a Gwydion triumph."

"There is hardly a dearth of Gwydion triumphs at martial contests." she points out.

"True... but we deserve the majority " a smile

She nods. "Thank you for coming, Dame."

"I hope to impress" SHe bows low "But I suppose I should speak to Mr. Duff. Thank you"

"Wait till you meet him to say that." Jess mutters.

And off she goes
