Benny moves through the halls on odd jobs, doing page work

And he picks up the mail "Oh! One for the baron!" and he goes looking for him

He is in his study; Benny has learned where it is.

"SIR.. Sir.. I have the mail from the herald for you"

He stops "I mean. .uhm BARON Baron.. I have the mail from the herald for you"

"Come in."

He comes in with the mail. Many bear the seals of his Bannerhouse

"Quite a few." He puts down the scroll he was reading and accepts the mail. "How is your hand, Benny?" He sorts the messages before opening and reading them.

He looks at his hands "Clean. The steward makes me wash"

"I meant your penmanship."

"Oh" He says

Then "doesn't everyone use keyboards and texting now?" Hopeful

"Not a replacement for a handwritten note." Reading.

"oh" a sigh "Not good then."

He nods absently. "You'll need lessons."

Notes include- Temerity's update that makes it sound like she battled a titan of the underworld to rescue a prince and princess. He suspects a mortician's attempt to keep his daughter from marrying a 'lowly plumber' has been thwarted by the mouse getting them to see each other behind the scenes.

A faint smile. Good.

Other victories include Sir Ivory in his travels saving the son of two loving parents from Leanhaun 'musing'

"Benny, find something to take notes with."

He gets a pad and pencil "Yes, Baron

"

Alas, another Truthbranch writes of his failure to keep the state from deporting a mother who is a victim of faulty paper work, separating them from her family.

"The heading is 'follow ups'. Sir Ivory, check on the son's progress, possibilities of musing."

He writes FOLLOW UPS

and then writes the other

AUgust reads closely to see where the mother ended up going to.

Mexico. mmm if they're going to the Baja area, there is a Liam ally there

He writes it 'Baha?"

And he keeps writing in childish scribble that even a chicken might beat

Another one- 'Satyr unseelie seems to get kicks seducing married men. Trying to stop hussy. I know killing is wrong.... what's our stance on shaving someone's goat furred ass with an A for adultery ?'

He looks for the author.

Dame Georgia .. like the state. Not sure he's met her

August sighs and rubs his furrowed forehead. "Note." He dictates. "Where are all these Truthbranches coming from?"

"Arrange meeting with Dame Georgia." he continues speaking and reading.

He writes that down

Squire Tylar's note says all is well, he's just testing the boy's mail fetching skills

A faint smile.

August stacks the papers neatly on his desk.

And it's done

"Thank you, Benny. How are you settling in?"

"Oh it's GREAT!" He says excitedly "Shalimar is teaching me how to juggle! And Dame Temerity told the monster under my bed that if he kept pinching my ankles she'd ..what does DISEEMBOWL? mean?"

"Anyway, Longrasp and I have an understanding now . He's actually kind of nice"

"Good. I'm glad to hear that. Benny, are you familiar with the holiday of Samhain?"

"I was told I was supposed to say in my room for it with my door locked"

"What do you know about the holiday?"

"It's like halloween but more dangerous around the fae folk?"

"Yes. Roughly. How do you feel about staying in your room for it?"
