In his rooms at EarthRunes, Adam examines his chimerical cell phone. He picks and pries at the back. If there’s a way to get a battery out, he does.
If not, he stares at it, then shrugs and tries the power off button.
He takes a ziptop bag from his stuff, and puts the phone in it, and then puts enough water in to cover it. He seals it.
He puts the bag in a cardboard box he brought with him in his backpack and folds the lid over to loosely seal it.
He leaves the box under his bed, and goes to school.
