Dag might not skip, but her step is suspiciously light!

It should be said, that if there is anyone to blame for a lack of adventure in the dreaming, the blame must be shared equally. Piper's music seems to discourage violence , Dagmar's boon means 'tricks' to lure them off won't work as well, and Olgar is in his element...restoring trods or if need be jury rigging new ones.

It must also be said that a lack of adventure does not translate to happiness....

when they hit willows proper, the trods are distorted, bent, and littered with the corpses of once beautiful chimera now being feasted on. Shattered chunks of Inamina anchors float adrift. ANd, yes, a few kitahin corpses are pecked at and devoured by nightmares who do not see feeding as 'violence'

Dagmar has on 'trollface' - even with Siv's expressiveness, Piper has seen the same stoic look on both of her partners.

Olgar moves with grim impassivness through the carnage, like he has seen worse. He probably has, though rarely this wide spread.

Piper's notes falter, and she quietly hangs the guitar back on her shoulder as they press on.

They all see her, a sluagh, with a long pole with a hook, like a fisherman might use to drag in a fish corpse.. pulling at the corspes of fallen kithain, to loot them.

Dagmar's grip on the halberd's haft is tight.

She pulls corpses to the safety of the trod, then plucks off jewelrey or particularly intact voile

Piper tries not to look at the faces...

Olgar sees the looter, and gives her a long hard look

The sluagh looks up, and then defiantly "I got a right to take what ain't in use, don't I? Might as well go to me as the next one, right Guv?"

Piper steps forward, and asks, in her most polite, quiet tone, "Their identification... that can't have much value. Could we take that with us?"

Dagmar's jaw juts, and the expression just gets stonier.

"No, these is my finds, tain't yours. Go loot your own corpses" The slugh says, sounding like a far more selfish Eliza Doolittle

Narrowed eyes.

"What about the souls? Their IDs, let their family know. Ease their passage, yeah?"

"What about a trade?" She offers, tentatively.

"trade for wot?" She looks over but avoiding the she trolls gaze

"How about soon, you'll run into some nightmare that will kill you if you don't stop" Olgar warns

"On the silver I am" She scoffs

"A song, perhaps?" She hopes. "Or a secret, or something I treasure."

"Eventually, " Olgar says "You're going to die. Your'e going to put that hook into some nightmare that sees what you're doing. It will like a corpse, a rich one, and you'll yank it to the silver, that will count as an invitation. It will kill you, possibly drain or eat you, and then be on the trod free to kill other travelers" The Rover says it calm and factual like. "THen all that loot will either be iwth the nightmare, or for someone else to pluck."

The Sluagh glares at Olgar, then "Damn me, you're an ugly one, and I'm a sluagh, we aint' fooled easy. So there" She gives two fingers up, then glances again at Dagmar, then looks at PIper "AIn't got no use for songs. Secret or treasure? Sure, I'll give you wot ID I found"

"Huh. Guess I was wrong about sluagh.'

"Wot's that crack about?" The sluagh whispers at the Gwydion

She tugs lightly at Olgar's arm, so that the giant - taller here than ever - might lean for a whisper.

"Might it not be worth what they have, for their families to have some peace? Perhaps the you could strike a deal, as I know your folk are too busy helping the living, to worry about the dead just yet..."

Eyeing the corpses that yet litter the sides of the path, not yet brough to the silver.

The sluagh scoffs, "Thae's the secret? That I might want to avoid their ghosts? You're a bit dim ain't ya, luv? THeir souls will get recycled or et up by Banality maybe, either way , changelings don't leave ghosts."

"Yeah, see, I thought sluagh were smart."

Dagmar gets flipped off too

She shrugs, unaffected. "Your funeral."

"Well, lack of funeral. No coffins out here, no mourners, no rain-soaked grave."

"shut it" the sluagh says nastily

"Am I wrong?"

"Give up the ID already" Olgar says "If youre not going to listen to me, you can at least share that. "

The sluagh huffs and points at Piper "She didn't give me no treasure no no secret worth nuthin either. I does what I like, but I don't got to give up anythin for free"

"Can't the two of you work together? The Rovers have their hands full fixing the trods and guarding the living. Someone needs to care for these poor souls. I'm not saying you have to care, but maybe if you'd agree to share their contact details so that their families can know about them, there might be some protection the Rovers could offer in turn?"

She appeals to both of them.

"What happens to the human souls? The fae ones do what they do..."

"I ain't wasting time talkin THEO ology withcha, Falcon girl" The sluagh whispers and rolls her eyes at PIper "He's a Rover, Knight o THe way, if I get in trouble, he's sworn to protect me anywho idn't he? Not my fault he had a calling. ANd I aint' trading nothing what others get for free neight so piss off, ye bleeding heart goat girl"
