"Ok, so.... what's next?" Jess asks efficiently.

Brekke's jaw goes tight, one might imagine they hear teeth cracking.

Clem returns and sets down a pic nic basket, troll sized, some glasses and a pitcher of lemonade.

And a blanket if they need it

"Jessica....ok, yes, Brekke too. I went to see what I could find out and I Willow Whispered the car." Frank manages to speak evenly. "The nocker was taken away by what sounded like a pooka in green. I looked under the hood; there's some kind of device in there and it might be able to tell us more. Thanks, Clem."

He doesn't move to get settled, though. "Brekke, do you know of any nockers in Rivervale who are mechanically apt? Automotives, specifically."

And with that, Clem nods, suddenly as stoic as Jaymes, and makes her way off to leave them to this family gather.

"Thank you, Chieftain," Brekke says to Clem, then listens to Frank. A thoughtful expression at his question. "There should be, but no. Perhaps in Teaneck. I will have to check."

Frank turns a somewhat glum look to Jessica. "Teaneck. Or......."

Jessica's brow is thoughtful. "Or......" Growing realization. "I can ask her." She offers.

Jaymes pours himself a glass, and pulls out an impressive troll sized sanwhich

"Her?"

Frank and Jessica both look at Brekke with varying degrees of dread and/or reluctance. "Tweak."

A blink. "Ah." A moment, and then a nod. "Ask her."

Jessica takes a deep breath and nods. "I'll go ask Clem if I can use the phone."

And she does.

(Near the phone)"You can if everyone agrees to take a bite of something," Clem says "My hearth folk worked hard on that pic nic"

Brekke watches her go, then looks at Frank. And then away again.

the food looks good. Jaymes however says "Gonna stand over there" He gestures to out of ear shot

Frank goes to Brekke and offers his hand.

Jaymes leaves them be to talk

Brekke turns to Frank as he comes up to her, and after a moment puts her hand in his, her eyes meeting his. (married brain: I hate this.)

After a moment he meets her eyes. I know. Me too.

She nods, and sighs. After a moment, she says, "She can do what we cannot."

"Hmmph."

"And...I think I understand Vali's vision better now. Of her on bent knee."

His gaze darkens. "How?"

She considers him. "What would you have me tell you? All of it? Or no more than you already know, so you might protect her secret better?"

He looks hurt. "You think I will not protect her secrets? I know better."

"Easier to protect them if you do not know them, Frank. But the choice is yours. I will tell you what you wish to know."

He steps away from her, folding his arms over his chest.

"You do not think it wise for me to know. So. No."

Jessica hurries towards them.

It's Brekke's turn to look hurt as he moves away, but only for a moment before her stony expression returns. And she looks to Jessica.

Likewise, Frank looks.

"She's on the way." A little apprehensively.

Brekke nods. And she looks to the picnic that Clem has urged them to eat. No appetite, it's clear, but she picks up a morsel and eats it without enthusiasm.

A shame, for it is quite tastey

Jessica looks from one to the other with a frown. She gets two sandwiches and gives one to Frank. "Clem said we had to."

Frank look at it, then takes a bite and chews.

"Um. I think she's going there directly. Now." Jessica offers with an air of concern.

"We should go, then." She looks around for Clem.

Frank nods. "Right. I'll get back and meet her, show her the car and the problem. Jess. Good to see you. Coming back for Thanksgiving?"

"Yes, unless something happens."

"Jaymes, up to you." Frank calls to his other-brother. "Good." To Jessica. He turns his head to Brekke. "I can do this."

Jaymes nods

Brekke furrows her brow...then nods. "Yes."

Clem comes into view "You folks enjoy the meal?"

Frank has a sandwich with a bite out of it, Jessica is holding an uneaten sandwich.

"Thank you for your help, Chief." Frank nods respectfully to Clem. "I have to get back to Rivervale. Please excuse me."

Brekke makes a point of taking another morsel. "Thank you for your hold's bounty, Chieftain."

"Mountain..." Brekke says as Frank begins to leave. "I will return soon." Her voice is low.

"Of course, " Clem says to Frank, then a curious look she subues, "And I'll pass the good word on to the crew in the kitchen"
