(Backtrack)Jessica had waited for hours...

Henretta was not just old, she was... Jessica realized, a profoundly stupid hen.

Almost hey hey pounding your head into a rock level stupid

Jessica can be patient. And she said she'd help. But.... damn.

Finally...a brief ..maybe she imagined it, but was that red in the brush?

Jessica waits, still. OOC - Um. So .... kill the fox? Catch it? She's got something to handle it, right?

OOC She wasn't issued just a stupid chicken and sent into the forest?

OOC: She has been provided with 1) Net if she feels like she's lucky. 2) A shot gun OR a throwing knife 3) A club.

OOC: She also has a bag to gather the remains if you like.

OOC Net, gun, club, bag. *nod*

BIC: Patience works... and the fox shoots forward with surprising speed bee lining for Henretta

Jessica's been sitting ready but not aiming, not till.... NOW! She fires.

The Fox's eyes go wide then flat as a BLAM slams into his path... never before has Jessica seen a vulpine do a back flip, twist and race away! There he goes...

The good news? While she missed the fox, Henritta was not hit either

Jessica is up and after the fox; Henritta is on her own for a bit. As she runs, she readies the net.

Jessica has perhaps ONE more chance to catch or kill this guy before he just gets out of range...as he's streaking over and around tree roots.

Jessica tries the net.

Jessica leaps and gets a THUMP the Fox only barely gets in the net but she's got half of him and... with a flick manages to snatch him IN the net. The Fox bites and shakes trying to startle her into letting loose.

Jessica tries ignoring the snaps and snarls to secure the next... and -then- she might show him the club, if needed, while she catches her breath.

Clem comes on the scene, "I heard a gunshot you ok...hey!" She beams, "YOu did it. " She glances over, "Oh dear" She looks past Jessica to the stream "Pardon me. Good job, but I have to go get Henreitta, she's trying to drown herself"

The Fox thrashes twice more in the net, then suddenly turns into ASPCA commercial going limp and miserable in the net

"Settle down." Jessica mutters. A history with pooka makes her ask. "Can you understand me? If you can, yap once."

It does not Yap. It's just a fox...perhaps some of the magic in the farm has made it more endearing, and a bit smarter. Then again, if the farm made animals smarter , explain Henretta.

"No, Beak UP out of the water you drumstick" Clem fusses, "Okay. Got her. Let me take the fox as well, your mom is here"

"I can carry.... mom?"

"Yeah. I told her you were here, sorry, there's stuff going on"

"There's.... -what- is going on? I mean, beyond the usual?"

Clem ponders "I don't think it's for me to say. Talk to her. She doesn't bite. She may sever heads with a severe glare, and her brow might deflect lightning, but I don't think in any story of your mom she's ever bitten" Clem takes the Fox and with the chicken in the other arm does a head tilt towards where Brekke is "Sides, she probably heard the gun shot and might on her way"

"Dunno." the daughter mutters "Some of those looks she has are pretty pointed." But Jessica heads back towards the main buildlings.

"Good pun" She admits and looks at the Fox "Guess we should find you some wilderness to dump you in . You're gonna have to work for a living"

Brekke is still near the main compound of farm buildings. She's standing, arms folded, and seems to be brooding deeply.

Jessica comes striding out of the woods.

Siv is in a coma so ... probably thought it better to leave it just mom and Jessica. Besides, she's not Siv anymore

"Chieftess Brekke?" tentatively, concerned.

Brekke must be in deep thought, because she doesn't notice Jessica's approach until the wilder is almost atop of her. She looks up and nods. "Jessica. You are here."

Jessica nods hesitantly, her concern deepening, and offers a warrior's grip of greeting.

The grip is returned, but then she draws her into an embrace.

Clem is further back but does come into view carrying a chicken in one arm and a netted fox in the other

Jess hugs her back. "Mom, what's wrong?" Asked quietly.

Brekke whispers, "Listen carefully to the words I speak." Then she pulls back and holds Jessica by the shoulders. "Rivervale is facing a threat from House Leanhaun. A spy came, seeking information. He attacked Siv." She stops, her jaw tight.

The younger troll's expression hardens.

"She is...she was hurt. She...is not waking."

Jessica blanches, going blue-grey. "Mom....."

A horrible question asked-not-asked.

A moment...then she relaxes. "There. Remember that feeling. You must show that shock if any ask about her. Forgive me, Jessica. The attack did happen, and Siv was very, very badly hurt...but she is well. We are saying she is in a coma so that she may investigate while disguised."

Jessica just gives her a WIDE EYED "Are You Kidding?!?!?" LOOK.

Brekke takes in that look as if it were a slap, and bows her head. "I apologize."

"Jeeze, Mom....." Jessica takes a few steps away, trying to rally.

"Here...I am told we are well shielded, but we are scryed elsewhere."

She swallows, nods. "Right. Ok." A deep breath and she turns back to Brekke. "What else?"
