A wince and her hands mangle the hem of her tunic - not letting Earl take them.

He doesn't push or press that then

"Well, Baltimore has this Countess, and she's... how do I say this? Terrifying. I'm not saying evil, I'm just saying if she gets whimsical with you you would be screwed so " A shrug" It's chancy"

An eyeroll. "Like she should know me from Eve? Why? How? We move quiet-like, get an apartment, a job, get Jacob in school.... check all the boxes."

"Why would I ever even go to that Court?"

Zara swallows.

"Well, she doesn't necessarily limit her power or influence to court, and she might notice because she has an interest in Zara and you're linked. "

"But.. now poughkeepsie, the problem is no jobs?"

"Interest -how-?" With a suspicious squint "Yeah. Not a lot a'textile work there."

"She helped me find you."

"You said. Still not sure how that worked...."

"Before I... she helped me, so I could scry you on Samhain..."

Earl looks impressed

Miriam stumbles a bit at this. "Yeah? Well. Good for her."

"I saw you, and I thought... it felt like you saw me, too... and she... she's very traditional... but she... she's a Namer. If she saw me now, she'd know..."

"She would know Zara is a namer, and that art in a commoner's hands makes some nobles riled" Earl translates

"Hey, inside voices please" earl says

Dark eyes seek out the nocker's, uncertain.

Another double-fisted grab at control. "Right. Ok. So not Baltimore. If I wanna stay anywhere in the area an' work textiles then it's JFK, Pittsburgh, or the middle of the Pennsylvania woods."

Guilt. "Sorry."

"Can I suggest something profoundly selfish on my part?"

Exasperated, Miriam flaps again. "Why not!?!?"

"Why don't we find out what area with textiles has a trod, obviously not a balor controlled one, near it that opens up to poughkeepsie, Scarsdale, or Firnost?"

"Maybe I shouldn't go yet?"

"Because Miriam, we want you in our lives; certainly zara does. Hell, if there was a job in Poughkeepsie I'd offer you part of the house we're renting for you and Jaccob and Zara nd I would have you as house mates and we'd make it work"

Earl gives a soft worried look at Zara's talk

Miriam stamps a foot and gestures Zara-to-Earl in a 'See there!' move.

"Coulda fooled me." Muttered "Everytime I try an' talk to her, she dissolves."

"Yes, you have a lot of power over her," Earl agrees levelly then takes a breath "She wants you happy with her" And look to Zara , "And zara, why would you post pone Vasaar? It's got what you want. "

She wraps her arms around her torso, frowning.

"I want... it... I... I want to..."

Miriam fidgets, shifting, but holds her peace.

Earl waits too. Hoping to be reassuring in his silence

"All... all it's done is cause trouble..."

Earl looks perplexed at that

"I could go t-to community college first..."

"What?!?! Why!??!!"

"But .. it hasn't caused trouble. I mean, that's not 'all it's done'" Earl says gently "You love the house. You love the college. Heck, I love the house and would be with you there... folks are being very supportive. "

She's back to mangling her hem.

Earl takes a breath, then says "Okay... I noticed no comments on the idea of trying to find a trod between Scarsdale, or Poughkeepsie... and wherever Miriam sets up. Miriam, Zara, what do you think of that?"

A hiccup. "Be okay."

"Miriam?"

"Safety." Miriam mutters.

"I mean, ya figure it's safe? Balor get everywhere, like lice."
