The food is, of course, delicious, but the normally hearty eater, Caesar, isn't as hungry as he should be. And that is another clue into what might have been used on him.

Emerson makes small talk, chatting about this and that. Gossip, really, and it could be that he listens more than he really provides information. That, and his sharp eyes miss little about the two he is snacking with.

The dynamics prove to be alarming!

Caesar has deep friendship with this woman, but Sisuandh? our dear dougal, appears to have deeper feelings still... it's hard to tell if it's love (Possible if those pointy eared creatures can truly know love) or obsession, he's not sure.

Alarming, perhaps, but also hopeful. It won't last, it rarely does with satyrs, and she'll be crushed. Excellent.

As for the medical signs, well, drawing blood will tell him more if he's willing to do it in front of her

He clears his throat. "Caesar, as delightful as it is to see you, I really should be getting back to the Club. I needn't say your mother is... troubled by all this?"

"Caesar, your mother heard about this from you right?" Susain says

"Uh.,.." A wince, "I was hoping she hadn't."

"Caesar...." patiently "... we -watch- your matches, you know."

"Yeah, well, yessss.." In that awareness he was profoundly dumb to think he might slip this one by.

A sigh.

"Your poor mother" The sidhe fusses, "You need to make this up to her after you feel better."

"Okay, okay, sheesh, I'll apologize" He promises

"Just tell her I'm on the mend, okay, Emerson?"

"I will, and I will assure her I will return to check on you. When would be best?"

"He does need some rest," She says. "Maybe in the morning?"

"She's my mom, any time" He says though he does look tired

Emerson pats the young man's massive hand. "Will you be here as well, My Lady?" Politely.

"In the morning? Likely, later I have some errands to run." A smile to Caesar

Caesar smiles back, "Thanks for doing those, Susi"

"And you know you can always call on us, yes, Caesar?" Genially.

"Yeah, but I set mom up here so she could lead a cushy life, not so she would have to fuss" Caesar says "But yes I know"

He chuckles richly. "Ah, but 'cushy' means 'able to do what you like' and what she really enjoys is fussing over you, so....."

"Point" He concedes

"Alright then." He stands and pauses briefly with a frown. "Hm. If I cannot be here in the morning, may I drop by later?" Apologetically. "The Club, the hours......"

"Oh sure," He says

A nod and smile. "I believe I can see myself out, please don't trouble yourselves.....Caesar, until later. Madam, a pleasure to meet you." And he takes his leave.

-------- and soon, back at CC's house-----

A very thoughtful boggan lets himself in.

CC is pacing, wearing her frumpy comfy robe. She whirls as he enters "Well?" A bit eager for news

"He's recovering. I believe he'll be fine. I'm baffled as to why he has not sought a Balefire, but I was not able to ask him privately." A bit of a grumble there. "I need to visit him tomorrow afternoon, get samples for some testing."

"He does know We have a balefire" A glare ,though it is not meant for Emerson

"Yes. But I hope with every fiber of my being his young lady does -not.-"

"Why would he hide it from her, Emerson?" She flumps down still put out "He likes sidhe fine. He even trusts some of them. I'm afraid we wll have to face the fact that word will get out among the nobles we have a hold mirroring our club"

"Then I would not get too attached to either." Bitterly, as he drops into a seat as well.

"Oh go f-" She catches herself, then takes a SLOW breath "Love, let's go back to the start of this before I say things we'll both regret. You want to test him tomorrow afternoon? Test him for what, and why then?"

A brief glower, but he answers civilly. "Physically he is mending. He is not in danger of Bedlam or Starvation, that I could see. However, I suspect from his descriptions he was drugged. I want to do some primitive blood and urine tests. Nothing like what I could do in a lab of course, but... gain a general idea."

"That would explain that sloppy showing," She frowns, "And it cost him his ranking."

"To be honest, I should have come back here and then straight back there, but that elf was hanging about and I cannot let her see me at work."

"No, of course not," She agrees, then bites her lip, "Want me to get her out of there sooner? I'm not Magdelaine but I can act. Play the distraught mother in need of a younger woman's sympathy"

"Would it raise suspicions?"

"Not if I do it right" SHe says

Thinking..... "I called you at the Club, told you of the visit, went to bed in anticipation of an early morning appointment.... you fretted, and called her to the Club to talk.... no, not the Club. I don't want her there. Firnost?"

"Firnost," She nods, "The sluagh might notice something odd, but they're very discrete, and , while I do find the kith amazingly perceptive, there's a difference between seeing what's going on, and knowing what's going on. "

"You could take her out to the Garden." Then, a smirk. "The lake is very deep, you know."

"ha" She actually laughs at that, "Sadly, there would probably be two aquatic changelings and four talking fish Chimera to rat me out if I tried for a 'into the next life you go baptismal'" CC ponders "I know part of my distrust of this girl is she's... it's not entirely that she's sidhe, though that gets my guard up, it's how she seems to have wormed her way into Caesar's care. Am I just being 'no girl is good enough for my boy' in this?"

"No." Flatly. "She cares very deeply for him, it's an imbalanced relationship and with any luck, will end in tears for her."

"Oh dear," she ponders, "Wonder if she realizes he's got a virtual harem of single mothers out there?" She ponders, "Of course, some folks are more open minded that we satyrs would realize." A glance at him and a smile, "I lucked out with a boggan who sees reason, myself."
