CC turns to see the guests come in. There is no throne in this hold but she moves across the stage with the confidence of a queen, "I didn't know we had guests. Welcome to the Emberhold."

A small smile plays across the boggan's lips. "I believe we all have been introduced."

Alexis snorts, and Joey grins.

"Yes we have," She nods, "Alexis, let me know if you're hungry , I have some pork patties we can fry right up. Joey, there are carrot cookies I just made and have out as samplers. Oh, Joey, if you borrow any silverware, do try to leave the spoons be. We're running low on those."

Joey limps over to CC and gives her both a hug and a kiss. "Spoon? Well, ok...."

Alexis crosses her arms over her chest. "I ate. Still hungry, but..." She shrugs.

She returns the hug to Joey, "Careful, Joey, you'll make my man jealous." A wink, she slides over to her boggan and gives him a gentle kiss, "talking shop are we? I can make sure one of the boys is guarding the entry if we need a bit of privacy?"

"Up to you." He assures after returning the kiss with Alexis' evident disgust. "The Club is empty, front door is, now, locked."

"That should do it then," She pops out to arrange cooking, then comes back in.

William has taken a seat, while the others explore around.

"Pork Patties being handled" She says to Alexis, then prepares William a drink just the way he likes it quite attentively.

When ready, he accepts it graciously and with thanks. Alexis glances over and growls softly. Joey seems enthused.

Almost demurely, she takes a seat near her man.

With a jaded expression, Alexis says "Never kid a kidder, lady. Anyone ever tell you that? No way you pulled this asshole out of the business with just sex. He's not built like that; never has been. Shit, he used to flirt with -me,- which is way beyond ballsy and into fuckin' sick. He didn't mean it; he never means it. So play little housewife all you want; I know it ain't -that.-" The last word is almost spit out of her mouth.

Joey takes a seat on the floor, watching and listening.

A throaty chuckle, "Oh my, did you thin I was playing? mmm yes I can see how you might." a raised brow, "It's not about sex dear. It never was. Or do you really think I would have trouble getting that if that's all I was after? Not for me, not for him. That much is true. Maybe he just likes how I cook ? Honestly, my meatloaf is a wonder."

She snorts, turning away to explore a bit more. "So, what. A Balefire now, a Freehold, I guess." She looks back accusingly at William. "That was what you were after? You had opportunities, plenty of them. So I don't think it's that."

The boggan nods, agreeing. "I certainly never expected all this, true."

CC takes it all in, then looks to William, "I see what you mean. She's very inquisitive , more brainy than she wants folks to know."

He nods.

Alexis does too. "No harm in a boggan, right? No brains in a redcap."

"No truth in a pooka." Adds the rabbit boy.

"And satyrs only think about sex and song" Amused "Yes, we do each play our roles."

"So what is it?" Alexis returns to the point.

BIC: She looks to William letting him field that one before she commits to an answer

He sips his drink and shrugs. "Truth be told? I was, just around the time I had the pleasure of meeting Miss CC, growing very frustrated with business. If nothing else.... it was still there, hm? 20 years of work, more or less, and .... yes, we've had victories but... the work is still there, because the Sidhe are still there." He lifts an eyebrow at Alexis. "You recall that time frame, my dear. Remember the trips we took together? I got back out in the field? And... what did it matter? What changed?"

"There were a few less of the bastards. That changed." She growls.

'True." He agrees.

"Let's face it, the arrival of the 'lost houses' certainly caused quite the replenishment."

William sighs. "Yes."

"Seriously, that's it?" Alexis snarls. "You got -tired?-

"He got smarter," CC says

All three give her a disbelieving look of varying degrees.

CC laughs, "Oh Merciful Zeus, it isn't obvious? "

"Go ahead and tell them, Dearest." He sips his drink.

"Let's say he's retiring despite how it displeases you, or his br..others." She paces, "Oh now, that's never happened before, a graybeard settling down? Meanwhile the next generation of radicals gets room to move, to grow. Meawhile he's got a hold, a woman he cares for, and comfortable living. Living proof to others still in the biz that you can sow your radical oats and still come out damn well if you're not stupid enough to get yourself blown up like retarded jihadist who can't figure out how to flip a switch before security empties their clips..twice. Then he's a symbol..." She moves to Joey, and scratches between his ears, "Or... let's say he's only appearing to retire. Let's say he's focusing on quality not quantity. What's really more important? A dozen powerless nobles dead while a true tyrant with influence is secure? or finding a way to depose ...in one way or another, that tyrant? And if folks think he's retired, out of the game, then imagine what that allows him to arrange in the shadows? Why, haven't you heard the rumors?"

"Ok, you said something I'm gonna come back to, but for the sake of it, what rumors? I'm -not- a boggan."

Joey, meanwhile, preens at the touch and his good foot thumps the floor.

"Well, there's a destroyed marriage between A Varich and Gwydion Alliance... in the Duchy of Gems. Some chaos broke out there, a firm noble alliance is shattered, now is more likely to lead to war between nobles in the area..." A smile, "A rather embarrassing sex tape of one sidhe in her mortal guise sleeping with a younger student is out and she's found herself forced to flee and deserting her hold which was quickly taken over by commoners. Somewhere, a Dougal Baroness seems quite productive, but she's actually happily in service to the thanes and workers of her hold, to the point where one could smuggle any number of ...items, or people, that more traditional royalists wouldn't approve of. Why if rumors are true, it's almost as if a rash of bad luck has been really been messing up some sidhe, not just taking their lives . That unites the nobles after all, but eroding their very base of power. " an elegant shrug "But , then, I do hang out with a boggan, so I do hear rumors. You know how we housewives love gossip." Alexis scowls. "Yeah. Heard some of that.... and wondered." She glares at William. "You?"

William smiles beneficently. "Not alone, no."

Alexis turns her scowl on CC.
