"what do you mean she's out?' Caesar asks.

"Dreamer musing," Rocco shrugs, "She didn't say which one."

"No worries then" Caesar shrugs, "I'll give her the news later."

Complete with banker's eye-shade, and carrying a file of papers that he reviews as he walks, the general manager emerges from the offices and (muttering to himself) head for the bar.

"Hey, how goes it, Emerson?"

"Hm? Oh! Hello, Caesar, how are you?" He bustles around the bar and pours himself a coffee.

"Doing well, but I missed mom. I have news I thought I'd give to her but it can wait."

"Oh dear.... I know she'll be sorry to have missed you. She was meeting with a Dreamer, you know." A fond smile.

"She's a dedicated muser, " He agrees, "Likes to play with them, but would never harm them. " Proud, "I just didn't want her thinking I was being robbed if she came to my place and saw Susie."

"...... Susie?" Politely, as he adds a good three fingers of whiskey to his mug. "Drink?"

"Susan, Shratha... great gal. She's looking for a place and is in KC so I thought I'd let her crash at my pad. I mean, only fair, I crashed at hers."

Emerson smiles, pouring Caesar a drink anyway. "Will you sit and tell me all about her? I can hold my tongue long enough for you to tell Miss CC yourself."

"Oh sure,' he takes the drink deciding to hang around bit, "Great girl, sexy as hell. But i suppose I shouldn't go into looks, I mean, it's a given she's hot given what she is. She's into production, sfx, lighting ando ther things."

A smile. "This is your special lady friend, then?"

"Oh yeah, she's really easy to get into" A smile, "You might like her. Like you, she knows how to hang in the wings while others get the fruits of her attention seeking labors."

Still smiling. "Really? Well, I'm sure we'll meet eventually. Now, how long have you been seeing each other?"

"Gee while now, but things didn't get really serious until Imbolc. I'm telling you, she gets me," He smiles.

"Is she a wrestler then?"

"Nope, sorry, thought I mentioned it. She's into the tech- makes sure the music is right, the lighting is good. And all the gear you need. She started in theatre, now she works on sports events. her big dream is to handle the fx for a half time show at the superbowl."

"What a worthy goal!" He approves. "A technically-minded Sidhe.... certain options for her affiliations spring to mind."

"I think so... yeah, I was surprised to find one that was into technology too. But, you know, Dougal so I guess I can't be that surprised." Another drink, then he looks to the mirror "Bet she'll love the hold. Nice she'll have two spots to go to."

A curious tilt of his head. "Where is her court, then?"

"Oh, she doesn't have one." He says "Not anymore"

Tsks. "Such a shame...."

"Yeah, her old liege was, well, he got a bit tyranical and she asked to be released from her oath."

Emerson nods understandingly.

And takes a long drink.

"How are you guys doing?" A gulp "I mean, I know she's jazzed about the hold, but how are things?"

"Oh, we muddle along." But a genuine smile lights his face for a moment. "Your siblings are well."

"Siblings...oh," he laughs, "Yeah, mom spoils those pets fierce."

A long suffering sigh, and another drink. "Yes. Yes, she does."

A pat on Emerson's back, "You're good to her, I appreciate that. Let me know if you need me to pet sit sometime when I'm in. Pretty sure Susie is good with animals"

"Pretty sure? Or sure?"

"Pretty sure, haven't seen it put to the test" he admits

"MMmm....." Thoughtful.

"Where -was- her court before?"

"Tahoe area, though I forget what they call that." He says "Doesn't matter, she's her own woman now if she wwants to be." Amused' Of course, she may not want to be."

"No?" surprised. "Are you thinking of...??"

"Oh, hey, I won't be a wilder forever. And while satyrs don't stay faithful, we do start to shrink our circles bit and have a different sort of fidelity. I'm not saying she's 'the one' but I'm thinking maybe there is a special one out there. Got to look, you know?"

"Good heavens." Mild surprise.

"Maybe I'm jumping ahead there, don't read too much into it." Wistful,"Just, I knew a girl who made me laugh and I thought ... you know? She'd be alright to wake up to every other day... but it's just friendship, and that's cool, but it did make me realize I was missing a 'one'. Mom found her 'one' in you, so maybe luck runs in the family" He pats the boggan on the shoulder, "Look, I gotta go. don't bother mom with my 'one' talk. She'll either think I'm maudlin and just need a good orgy, or worse, try to set me up."

"Mum's the word. Pardon the pun." Drink.

"ha" He takes the glass down and rises, "Later Emerson"

"For what it's worth, Caesar, there can be more than one 'One.'" He nods.

"Good to see you."

"I'll keep that in mind" And he heads out.

The boggan's larynx moves up and down as he drains the rest of his glass, sets it down, and rests his face in his hands.

Rocco hasn't been listening , but he does read expressions, "That bad, boss?"

"No!" He pops up, smiling, and adjusts his visor. "Not bad at all. Do excuse me, I should consolidate these invoices...." He scoops up the file and bustles off to his office.
