In her defense, she does taste it, a decent bit. "It's something. Interesting. Not bad." A nod.

But she carefully pushes the rest away, not rudely.

"Well, i thinnk my favorite thing was the tamales"

"I like the chicken, and the soup n the bread."

"Does he know to go visit Sparrow? The Baron always made people report in when they came to his town, or if you didn't, and he found out, he would hunt you down for the cells..."

A concerned glance at the truck.

"Shhh hey no, no, There's no check in or else stuff here. We can invite him, but he's done nothingg wrong and Sparrow wouldn't want him bullied so we won't. "

She ducks her head a bit. "I'm sorry. I should remember."

"Hell, honey, " Pepper says "I don't blame you. Harkson was a rat bastard. I can't ask you to forget all the rotten stuff he did. I'm lucky, I didn't have to live through it like you did. Icame afte"

Of course, keen sluagh ears might hear this chat

"We should invite him, then. In case he doesn't know it's okay? Or..." Unsure. "Are we supposed to allow Mister Wencesles do that?"

"Well, he probably knows abou Mister Wencesles, but when it's clear of any mortals, you go up and invite him if you want"

She nods solemnly, and watches.

Eventually, that rush of mortals breaks.. and tthe path is clear

Grete steps up to the counter. "Mister?" She asks.

"Yeah?" chef truck guy turns to the window with a whisper.

She leans in and lowers her voice to a whisper too. "Do you want to come meet the Baroness? She's nice, not the last guy. You don't have to. No one will put you in the dungeon." Her expression honest and serious.

He considers her words and the offer. "Not now." he says.

She nods, and turns, takes a few steps, then comes back. "What's your name?"

"My....Most people call me Cliff."

"Okay. Most people call me Grete. But your reeve here is Mister Wencesles. If you need to talk to anyone. Okay?"

He nods. "I heard the name. Thanks. Little sister."

She blinks, then squints at him curiously. "Are we related?" She sounds a bit unsure, but it is rude to correct adults.

"Not like you're thinking. Thanks, though."

"Okay. Thanks for the food." She heads back to Pepper. "He said no. Or Not now."

"Well, that's his call" Pepper says nodding "And he had the choice. There's the difference. Feel better?"

"I do! Thanks for stopping."

"You're welcome" Pepper says "now, let's get heading home"

She heads back into the car, and waves to the truck as they leave. "Maybe Lady Sparrow will want to come visit his truck. The food WAS good..."

"Better than mine or Mary ellen's?" A smirk

"You never made any of those things, so I can't compare." She grins. "You make squishy purple goop, and maybe you can beat him at it?"

"What about my hamburgers? I make great hamburgers" but she smiles back and lets the girl go in the shotgun seat if she wants

It's such a rebelloous feeling. Shotgun in a limo!

Pepper turns the radio to... "Herre you go, Rock is your favorite music right?" She MIGHT be joking

Either way, Grete has eaten from a food truck, then drove shot gun, while listening to music her parents would sneer at .

So no one can say THIS day was wasted
